Any of you see China play New Zealand in the Olympics?

Yao got angry at some trash-talking punk and shoved him to the ground. I think he scored 39 points that game.

One of you guys in Houston should go to a game and yell racial slurs at him to get him angry.

As a minority, I know that would get me pissed and motivated.

    Wow...this is interesting.

Bottom line...right now Yao's value on the market is greater than his value on the court. That's the bottom line. Perhaps Yao will develop into the player we hope he will. But I'm not holding my breath.

    Yao is nearing a 20 / 10 average

LOL yao never pad his state in the end of the game, he always rest. So 20/10 is not that bad

Shaq was the focal point of a team that was in the NBA Finals in his 3rd freaking year of play. he was averaging nearly 30ppg and was a freaking force.

Yao is not Shaq. He never will be. I don't know what he'll be, ultimately. But he better be better than he is right now to be worthy of a #1 pick.

My signature suggests Yao is not like Shaq but more like KG. Not in his style of play but rather in his development. Lets just HOPE my theory is correct...

i hope so too...but remember, garnett came in straight out of high school. a little different. he was 18 years old...and had only faced high school competition. yao had already faced nba talent and international talent when he hit the NBA. frankly, all things being equal, he should have been further along in his development than garnett was.

Let's say YAO hits his stride in 3 years from now. He'll be TWENTY-FREAKING -SEVEN - 27!! He would then have 10 years of ball in him for the city of Houston.

Yao is going to be fine. He's learning, he's progressing, he's getting better. Patience sux but it's something that we really need to focus on, not only as fans but as a society in general.

    RANT OF THE DAY!

We need young athletic players who can jump and block shots. (Nice call Doc...what a freaking genius you are for stating that!! )

Thats a good point but playing in the CBA is like playing on a highschool team as far as im concerned lol. Yes i agree w/ you statment though Yao should be further along than KG at this point in his carrier. I guess he should be som where in the middle of Shaq and KG like numbers.

without some time here in the states in the summer to work on his game vs. nba talent, i think his development, if it's forthcoming, will come much slower than it would otherwise.

i'm not very convinced he's going to become what we hoped he would when we spent a #1 draft pick on him. our opportunity cost there was quite large. i'm not sure that the value of Yao will ever exceed that opportunity cost.

I think the main question is not whether we need to keep Yao. The main issue is whether Yao wants to stay in Houston and whether Yao team and his friends want him to stay put.

nah. we can find another 18/8 player.

this is my point though...sorta like my mike vick opinions...the value of the guy far exceeds his worth on the court at this point. it just does. you could get a BUNDLE for this guy if you put him on the market. a bundle that would likely exceed, in pure court value, what you're getting from yao right now.

i'm not advocating that we do that. i'm just sayin'.

I disagree. I think Yao has all the tools and skills to achive his so called opportunity cost if not pass it. Yes its not going to happien any time soon but i can wait. Its only his 3rd year in the NBA so he has plentyy of time on his side.

I do agree w/ how he must stay in the states in order to build his game. When he goes to China he player weaker, smaller, & less talented players which hurt his game. Hell go to China but dont play REST. Thats one thing Yao dosn't have on his side is rest.

man, i'm not arguing with you there. i know he has the tools and skills to do it. but i've also followed sports long enough to know that's only about half of the battle.

True, Yao has to have the willl power to say **** it! Im gona take this guy because i know i can! Hell even if he gets blocked do it again... blocked do it again... blocked do it again! Sooner or later the guy who is 7 freakin 6 will be the one to score.
