you've entered into the tail end of an argument...taken a snippet of what i said out of context...and now you're running with it to flip and try to make some other point entirely, which has nothing to do with the argument i was previously having. good work.

What the hell...I thought not too long ago Yao made it clear that he wants to retire as a rocket. His emotion got the most of him after the lost to the Suns?

I think the following stats can shut all ya yao haters up, once for all:

    from 82games:

    Net Production by Position:

Position FGA eFG% FTA iFG Reb Ast T/O Blk PF Pts PER*
    PG -3.8 -.034 -1.7 4% 0.4 -1.9 0.4 -0.1 -1.4 -5.8 -5.8
    SG 2.8 +.000 0.7 0% -0.4 1.5 -0.7 0.5 -0.0 3.1 +1.7
    SF 1.1 +.056 -2.0 -9% -0.9 0.7 0.6 -0.4 0.4 1.2 +1.5
    PF-3.5 +.016 -3.7 5% -2.3 -0.6 -0.7 -1.0 -1.9 -5.3 -7.2
    C 2.3 +.072 2.9 18% 2.4 -1.0 -1.3 1.2 1.0 7.4 +7.3

(Notes: the PER is a complicated single number rating developed by John Hollinger
and used extensively in his excellent Pro Basketball Prospectus books.

The league average PER is set to 15, but more importantly for this view, when
comparing the team's production to the opponent production you can learn whether the team has been getting a net positive or negative overall contribution from that position.

eFG% is the effective field goal percentage, adjusted for three point shots,
while iFG represents the percentage of shots taken from inside/close to the hoop.

now you tell me who is the best player on our team.

the whole point is, you can score as much as you want but if you opponent score 1 more point than you tonight you are still a loser.

It only shows that Yao+Mutumbo combo is very effective.
Yao's own +/- is not very good.

+/- doesn't say much coz it has everything to do with how your other team mates play with you. with all the changes happened this year i expect this to go down, a center takes longer to gel with his teamates if you know what i mean.

Mutumbo is a 4pt/4rb player this year and played much less minutes than yao if you want to mention this. take last night for example, yao held other team's c (you know who he is) to 1 point while guarding him. so even yao only score 2 points during the same time frame we are getting a net positive production(point wise) from our C. can you say the same for mutumbo? or for that matter any other position on the court? (SF included).

you're right!!! that's it!!! he's the greatest player...EVER!!! no one has ever been better. thank God he's here! i'm certain we'll ring after ring, as long as he keeps playing exactly like he has.

    but consider these numbers:

    22 222*@ 2222 22233355
    3232 22323 2323 22 22222 22 7222
    44224 23232 444 222556 1``2 4 44

Man, in a few hours, you've turned from a reasonable poster
to a borderline bitter and insane one ;)
