Yao gets off only 2 cm off the ground when he shoots so it's not hard to block. Okur blocked his fadeaway jumper 4 times in one game, and 3 times the next.

Then what do you suggest him to do when he is holding the ball 10 feets away from the basket with 10 seconds on the shot clock? Only Shaq in his prime could consistently back people to dunk the ball. Spin move won't work every time when it gets predictable. Pass the ball out?

I thought Dream taught a few pointers to Yao.

What do you think Dream would do against Okur? I think probably score like 35 points.

I am not trying to compare Yao and Dream here. I want to know Yao's alternatives other than taking fadeaway under the circumstance.

dude, Yao is stronger and taller than Okur. Dream said "DOMINATE" to Yao. dude, anything. pump fake, hook shot. Hell, back him in the paint.

I think his hook shot is better.

Not that I want to make an excuse for Yao or the Rocks, but he wasn't close to 100% in that Jazz series, that's why you he got blocked so many times by Okur. That's also why last night was the first time we've seen his spin move since November 2006.

I see he has been using hook shots more. His game is still evolving.

I like it as long as he mix things up not just rely on it. That shot of his can be blocked occasionaly.

You can just tell, he has put a lot of work into his post moves. You gotta respect him for that. Not many tall guys are willing to work hard. His shots look automatic, but that's what practice does for him.

What I would do is use my 7'5 310lbs frame to at least give the defender a couple of bumps then hook shot or if the defender becomes unbalance, just lay it up/dunk it over him.

Like he did before the injury. Yao was agressive, he really was. That injury slowed him down and he started to usin' his shoot more.

Hook shoots - that's where he should go

Too bad you are not 7'5" and 310lbs, otherwise we would have the MDE part II. So is there any chance that you can grow to that size one day?

Flopping will always be a part of the game. Some players should get a star on hollywoods walk of fame for their acting job but that doesn't mean you should stop playing your game.

if the refs call it every time then it is just a turnover and you are hurting your team more.
