This ranking means absolutely nothing, China was ranked one ahead of Brazil, but I don't think China is nearly as good as Brazil.
Thanks for the link jsnwu Interesting to note, China in FIBA ranks is number 14...so (if you take the FIBA ranks as accurate) then maybe tonight was an abberation and a testament to how inconsistent this USA squad is...oh well...there's still the next game.
These rankings are based on some mythical formula, just like no one would seriously think US soccer team was ranked number 4 in the world is accurate either.
Indeed meaningless. In my guess, the criterion of this ranking probably weighs the continental champion too much. As you know, China is always the champ in Asia.
