Well, Hakeem led a team to the Finals in his second year, taking the '86 Celtics to 6. If he wasn't a franchise player then, no one is.

I saw the same words from you for at least 3 times in different threads. Thanks to your all caps, it's easy to recognize. It must be a very very strong arguement for you. For arguement's sake, you can interpret it as "because he was fouled, he missed the layup." On the end, he sank two free throws, and added a foul to his opponent, which is a better result than the dunk. Please enlighten us how you reach your conclusion by that strong arguement?

Sprewell and Houston took a Knicks team to the finals one time. Are they franchise players?

That 86 Rockets team had Sampson, who was as much the reason for the Rockets success as Hakeem. Besides, Hakeem also anchored a bunch of borderline playoff teams in the late 80s and early 90s. Where there were constant rumors about him being traded because of his attitude. Not exactly "franchise" material.

Hakeem didn't really become a true franchise player until Rudy became the head coach. You could see the difference in his play during the mid 90s as opposed to earlier in his career. When he truly became unstoppable. Yao has that potential too. Whether he'll realize it, of course, is a different story.

HE SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE A LAYUP IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!
HE WOULD'VE DRAWN THE FOUL EVEN HE HAD DUNKED IT, AND GOTTEN 3 POINTS INSTEAD OF 2 POINTS.

ONE OF THESE DAYS YAO IS GONNA BLOW A BIGGER GAME FOR THE ROX BY REFUSING TO DUNK AND I WILL BE THERE LAUGHING AND ALL THESE YOFS WILL BE MAKING DUMBASS EXCUSES.

Why would you be laughing? Just because you dislike Yao, and you want to see him fail, even if he drags the Rockets with him? I thought we come here to a Rockets bbs, as Rockets fans, or at least we pretend. I guess you didn't give us any "DUMBASS EXCUSES" to "reason" with you. My bad to try.

Once Francis is gone and it is clearly Yao's team, he will lead.

Right now, he is still being respectful of Steve.....

    Yao is come !

What kind of fan are you? You gonna laugh if our team loses just because it will be Yao's fault? Shiet man, get the phuq off our board, your main purpose is to see Yao fail regardless of what happens to the Rox.

You are correct. Dream was a franchise player after his first year. 20 ppg and 11 rpg are franchise #'s to me.

Quick, name me the franchise players in the game today?

    1. Shaq
    2. TD
    3. KG
    4. ?
    5. ?
    6. ?

J O'Neal, Dirk, AI, TMac, Jkidd, Cwebb, they are all stars, but never ever i would consider them franchise players. The closest to being a franchise player aside from the three is kobe. So stop on bashing on yao. Hes not a franchise player. Yet. But 3 years from now, he will. Y, becoz then franchise and cat are gone and the rockets will have a top notch pg and and serviceable pf.

I am sure Duncan was respectful of D-Rod too, but that didn't stop him becoming such a force since his Rookie year.

I don't think KG has proven himself as a franchise player yet, according to your analysis.

There are at least 28 Franchise players if you ask the Gms or Owners.

    Some teams have two,

    some have none.

    Some are lucky to win

    Some are not..

Who can tell me Barkley, Ewing are not?

    Some are dominant

    Some are likely to be

    If Steve is

    Yao got to be

    No two are the same

These Hakkem comparisons really need to stop, he's not Shaq or Duncan either. That being said, he really has shown brilliance from time to time, his skills are really unquestionable. He does need to either gain strength or be more assertive, not neccessarily aggressive, he shows that, but more assertive. He's easily dislodged from the post (I do understand that he gets hammered), and he needs to learn to mix it up more he's not the type of player that is physically dominating although big. Most of us know that he is a very good player to say the least. I think that it's a valid question whether or not he is a franchise player, if you ask me he will be. I say patience, he will be, he's less than impressive at times but he'll be fine some of the great ones take time.

TD stayed in college for 4 years.

One thing that I never understand about TD is as such a great player, why could not he lead Wake Forest to even one Final Four in 4 seasons?

TD was a third team AA his second year, first team AA junior year, and POY his senior year, but his teams sucked in NCAA tourney.

    Was TD overrated in college?
