give it time. His shooting will come around. With Barry, DA, and Head all having a good pre-season iam not as worried as I would have been last season. A solid 20-25 mins a game is all we need from Wesley this season.
Don't forget that Wesley had knee surgery and is still working it back into shape. Historically, he is a good shooter and his shot will come around.
I think DW will find his shot at some point in the season, but I think he's probably not on this team after the trade deadline. Luther Head and Sura's health could potentially seal his fate as rocket for this season. I still feel very comfortable with DW on the defensive end of the court.
Wesley was the guy touted to always have the defensive assignment of guarding our opponent's best backcourt weapon.
It's interesting the way so many have turned on Wesley because his shooting is off and Luther is playing well in the preseason. This reminds me of those who wanted to throw Sura under the bus and ride on Mike James after his first two games as a Rocket. Wesley is valuable to this team and has a lot of intangibles and savvy that Luther does not. He passes well, gives sloppy ballhandlers fits (ask LeBron), is very very strong and is money at the FT line with the game on the line. This is definitely his last year as a Rocket (and maybe the NBA) but we shouldn't trade him unless we get value in return. This season, the main goal isn't planning the future: We are trying to win a championship right now. There are times during the season when Luther will falter and we will be glad Wesley can step in. I like our 5 guard rotation for now. If Luther turns out to be a definite stud and ROY candidate, great. But if he ends up singing the blues for a couple of stretches during the long season, steady Wesley will be right there to give us solid, productive minutes. If Wesley is still slumping by mid/early December, I'll get worried. But not after just 4 preseason games and he's coming off surgery.
You're right, Rockets.com even has him at .083% and I mistyped it to .83%. But whatever it is, it isn't good. The Rockets were playing their best ball when Wesley was shooting the ball well, I hope he can get his shot back. But like most of ya'll said, having DA and Head really helps out.
I think his knee is still questionable. Even his FT's look unstable in this preseason. If this keeps going on, I've rather have Head start at SG and Alston start at PG.
we still have head, DA, and JB. all of them can play the 2 very well in this offense. wesley's ending contract might catch us a backup PG come the trade deadline.
I think Wesley's shooting woes are something of a concern (let's be honest here); we want anyone wearing a Rockets uni to play his best. That said, Luther Head is a pleasant surprise, and will earn minutes in prime time. Instant offense and energy off the bench, decent defense, still learning to pass but that's not far behind....gotta love that 3 point shot. How many guards do we have? Anderson, Alston, Wesley, Barry, Head, Moochie....and Sura, if or when he returns. While Anderson can take spot minutes at the 3, this is still an unbalanced lineup, and we will likely see some sort of trade during the season to correct the problem. So, the real concerns belong to Wesley himself. Shoot better and stay. Stink up the joint and sit, or wind up elsewhere.

My point was that the particular list of players in question are almost undefensable. The best of a sorry lot is still a hero, and we didn't have a lockdown perimeter defender at the end of the year. TMac is good and got better, but he can't cover everybody.
It sounds like an improvement, though. He's still learning to play on his new knee. As long as he can still defend, David Wesley will get plenty of minutes on this team. It's nice to have other guys who can step in and make shots if Wes can't hack it.
it really doesn't sound good but coming from an 8.3% clip, anything higher is definitely better. anyway his last 3pt shot came when we need them the most. and the release looked real good and steady.
and I recall he played them up pretty well. A lot people here on this board are not really sure about Wesley, but he's pretty important part of our team, he's a griddy vet who plays hard. You dont see him taking nights off. I think and hope that his shot will come back around, he has always had a nice shot so I dont see why things would change all of the sudden.
