Considering how hard and, if you believe the talk, how close we came to acquiring Austin Croshere, I'd say we're lucky to have the "worst" player in the league. If you think watching Walt and his 38% shooting is tough, imagine what it must be like in Indiana where they paid a bundle to suffer through Austin's 38%. And he takes 9 shots compared to Walts 7. That's 2 more likely misses per game. And this is just the start of a 7 year contract. Just goes to show you how motivated someone can be in the playoffs in the last year of a contract and how profitable it can be. I'd take Walt's ability to hit the open 3 (43%, #4 in the NBA) and free agency status in 2002 over the Maloney-esque performance that Croshere is putting up in Indiana. Walt Williams may have some consistency problems but how the hell you can even ask this question is beyond me? Just because your a Walt hater. When he has good games, what do you do then? He is a streak shooter...everyone knows that. He isn't the best defender in the world...so what! He disappears during some games...who doesn't? There are plenty of players who are worse than Walt. Walt really kicked Laker butt last night didn't he! Just like I have always said when Walt plays we lose (granted last night is not a fair comparison w/out Taylor,Akeem, etc. at L.A.). Everyone keep this in mind though (about Rockets losing when he plays significant minutes especially in the 4th quarter) and w/the exception of his 22 point "outburst" at Golden State tell me the last time he has played significant minutes and we have won a game. I already said earlier in this post that the Toronto game was the only game of the year that Walt earned his 4.5 million and that was because he feared his job after being benched the previous game for the first time this year. Walt has a great ability to shoot the lights out when the game is already over (his defense sucks all the time and he doesn't contribute any offensive rebounding or keeping the ball alive). Walt is not a team player. He is a guy who can get you meaningless points and not help anywhere else when needed (aka defense and offensive rebounding). Only ultra-tight conservatives think drugs are bad. I, for one, support full legalization. What I meant by the Defense comment, is that at least Walt is 6-8. He can sometimes give slow forwards trouble with his size. Mobley, however, is small, and gets blown by even by the likes of Ron Harper and Brian Shaw. Mobley played good defense in the lockout season, but has since lost interest. He plays NO defense. Waltsucks, by you stating this, you obviously realize Walt Williams potential. Therefore, you are obviously contradicting yourself when you state in your post title that "Walt Williams is the worst player in the NBA." A more appropriate subject heading should be "Walt Williams rarely plays up to his potential." Get it right. ------------------
