Why would Tillman Fertitta leave a centrally located downtown arena that HE CONTROLS in America’s 4th largest city for a small, saturated sports market in Vegas that only has tourism as its lone economic engine? That makes no financial sense. There is already a group of investors seeking to build a new arena at in the Vegas Strip at Sahara Blvd. Fertitta is not involved. https://www.fox5vegas.com/2022/11/30/start-construction-all-net-arena-project-las-vegas-delayed/ Fertitta’s sole focus seems to be increasing his casino ownership, with a new property being built at the corner of Harmon and the Strip, as well as purchasing ownership stake in Wynn Resorts, which might be an eventual takeover attempt
I’ve always suspected an owner build the arena in Katy of some ****. Kinda like how Austin is trying to steal the Spurs from San Antonio
Well, Seattle proper is, but the Seattle metro area is like 4 million people. lol. It's one of the 10-15 biggest and one of the 3-5 richest in the nation. El Paso is ... well ... I hear they have some picante sauce and tex-mex there. I dunno.
lol don't knock El Paso - Seattle's got more money than Houston per capita and the amount of Nielsen ratings/TV viewers in their area is relatively close to Houston's (12th vs 8th respectively). For the record - I don't think that they'll remove the Rockets from Houston at all, but I never thought they would have taken away an NBA team from Seattle...for OKC (#44 on the list).
