Wasn't Stoudamire begging to come here and the Rockets didn't want him?

Yeah those two free agent examples that we didn't get are a real heart breaker...

Uhm....Clyde was traded to us by Portland, Barkley and Pippen came here to play with Dream. Other then that Rudy T doesn't really have much of a track record for signing players or draft picks.

The more posts I read by you the more you sound like an immature whiner who has nothing constructive to add to the BBS. As far as I'm concerned since JVG got here he has taken out the trash that Rudy left behind. Funny that JVG learned under Pat Riley and has a very similar coaching style and nobody likes Riley either until he wins another ring...

Sorry, but I'm not seeing any great tradition of the Rockets signing Free Agents. If anything, the quality of our free agents has improved.

Sorry, to interject facts into your rant...carry on.

BTW, just to clarify Barkely, Pippen and Drexler were all acquired via trades, not free agency.

HUGE OUCH! BTW, is there anyone out there who can explain this organization's fascination with "Pig" Miller?

I don't know if the quality of players has improved but certainly the quantity has increased. Alot of players to have gone through in such a short period wouldn't you say... 40 players in less than 3 years and Rudy only signing 68 in over 9 years. Sounds like Van Gundy is using the shotgun approach... Lets bring everybody in and maybe someone will stick. Interesting concept.

One possible explanation could be that we have more roster flexibility now that we're not saddled with overpriced, long-term contracts like those given to Maloney, Taylor, Norris, Cato, etc..

Still doesn't explain going through 40 players in less than 3 years and the only thing you have to show for it is Ryan Bowen and Chucky Hayes. You can even throw out Chucky because Van Gundy never wanted him in the first place and now his signing is more of a moneyball decision. So 40 free agents later all we have is Ryan Bowen... is this the Van Gundy Plan we have all been waiting for?

Looking at JVG sometimes, I don't think anyone hates him as much as himself. Friggin Eeyore is what he is.

I really think it's the opposite. I still don't like Riley. I don't care if they are similar. What is that suppose to mean? Avery was the real winner in that series. Rudy was the one that was finally turning this team around. Wow, JVG gets to the playoffs his first year here. That is definitely undeserved credit.

Anyways, most of us don't like Gundy. I don't really care for him either but I dont want to start arguing. He is better than half the coaches out there so I won't comment. And as for players coming in and saying JVG is the best coach they ever played for, just look at their previous coaches. I would've said the same thing! Don't forget, Francis said Rudy was the best coach he's ever had. Who are you going to listen to?

And you know what, I bet you anything JVG would not have drafted Yao if he was the coach at the time.

40 is too many players? Realize that after you remove the duplicates for players signed more than once and you take out the 12 guys that were signed only for summer league it's a total of 24 players over 3 years. 10 of those 24 were originally signed to 10 day contracts.

Just for fun, let's disregard those circumstances. Over the last 3 years we signed 36 different players as free agents. Over the same period of time, the Miami Heat signed 56 players as free agents (three of them are on their current roster). It seems to have worked out fine for them, so I'm not overly concerned.

Not to be an antagonist but all we have to really show from his free agent signings is Ryan Bowen, Bowen is the direct result of his choices, remember his statement, Ryan Bowen and Juwan Howard are the hardest working players on the team. I don't know how anyone can put a different spin on it... we have nothing from his choices. He is batting zero for all of his efforts.

Yao signed long term contract not because of JVG ,but because of his respect for the Rocket's management in getting him here despite of all the red -tapes.His appreciation and royalty to the management make him wants to play for The Rockets for life.TMac agreed to be traded here because of Yao and not JVG.

YOu know. . . it was not the Quality of the Free agents
    but
the Quality of the coaching they received

    Look at a Chuckie Brown
Rudy . . . MADE him into an NBA player
    In fact
I just feel Rudy makes people play above their heads
    while
JVG whipps them into submission and below their potential

    Rocket River
..ooooo JVG went the playoffs his 1st . . . with a team that would have
been in the playoffs. . . if their head coach had not ALMOST DIED!!

lol. Come on man, if you're going to back up your opinion... geez. :)

Oh no, we traded Jim Jackson... the respected veteran Jim Jackson... the same guy half the league has traded.

Jon Barry... who deserved to play dammit... deserved it so much he did what after he was released? Retired.

Derek Anderson... now there was a stud. :D
