Guys, be realistic, if you put this thread on general NBA discussion board,
not many people would say T-mac is on the same level with Kobe.

McGrady's shot is not as smooth and as consistent as Kobe's. So to answer the question, no.

It's all mental. Tmac has more tools than Kobe does offensively. He is basically Kobe but 2 inches taller with a much longer reach. I will go as far as saying (again) that Tmac is the most physically gifted player to ever pick up a ball. Certainly among wing players he is.

The problem is Kobe is an assassin and Tmac is not. That's why Tmac could not do what Kobe is doing. It isn't a lack of ability but a (get ready for a cliche') lack of killer instinct.

I think Kobe is the best scorer in the game right now, and he is definitely more consisten and has been playing better than Tmac this year.

I don't think so. TMac has lost a step with all his ailments. But the biggest thing is the way they shoot the jumpshot. TMac is pretty good at shooting contested jumpers, probably second best in the league. But Kobe can shoot it with 2-3 guys in his face, and it seems like it's going in everytime. I don't think that has anything to do with killer instinct. Kobe is just better gifted.

I don't think Tmac has lost a step. I think he plays at 75% and avoids exploding to the rim to protect his back. We will find out if I'm right in the playoffs.

Big myth. Just watch some recent games, the guy still has plenty of athleticism and skill in the bank, he's just not using it as much because of his crystal back. He hasn't lost a step; he's just temporarily stepping back. Mmhmm.

...But seriously, just watching some of the stuff T-mac is doing "while losing a step" is just sick. Monster putback jams? Faking Rudy Gay out of his pants and then slamming it down? Rushing past Prince for the reverse dunk/sick reverse layup-looking thing?

God, Mac isin't Kobe but he sure is good.

Do you think there's any meaning to make this comparision?

Tmac is tmac, stop comparing him with Kobe.

I would choose tmac as my teammate, not Kobe. Tmac can help his teammates to score more pts although he may not score 50+ in four games.

Better. I believe in T-Mac's greatness. I remember back in the day some argued Robinson and Ewing were better than Hakeem. How did that turn out?

    TMac is the man!

Who cares? His team was losing, and now it is winning. Hard to find fault with that . . . unless you're trying to do just that.

You said what I thought about. TMac is what we want and need, please do not metion the stupid Tmac Kobe comparison. Talke about a team, not a player, a player is always a part of team, his perfomance can only be judged by the team performance, M Reed and Joe Johnson are great scorers, but who cares?

the biggest difference in these two is even though kobe is better than everyone else every night he steps on the court he wants to prove that he is better than you to where as t mac know that he is better so he just steps on the court and does things as he feels like doing it. kobe wants to kill and embarass you every night tmac has the ability but just will not do it.

I remmember when TMAC was asked on FSN on who is the best clutch shooter and he answered "KObe Bean Briant". In addition Tmac is not as competitive as Kobe or not competitive to the point that he would take a game as a personal challenge or push guys away from him to send a message.

describe to me this "killer instinct" you talk about. is is the "looks" he displays on the court cuz i'm sure KG does it too? is it the "arrogance?"

or is it blowing a 3-1 lead to the suns?

tell me, DESCRIBE to me that "killer instinct". cuz i'm sure if tracy lacks it, tim duncan must too as he is WORSE than tmac in that category.

    Here is the bottom line:

    Kobe = great scorer
T-mac = great all around player

Kobe is selfish, arrogant, has an attitude, has a huge ego, is uncoachable, but can jack up a ton of shots and sore a bunch of points

Tracy is unselfish almost too much, he has incredible court vision, no attitude, no ego, he is better defender (see shutting down Nowitzki for 7 games), better rebounder, and if he wanted too he could jack up 40 shots a game and score 50 every night too, especially if he never had the back issues. and he is just as cold-blooded and clutch.

Put Tmac on the Lakers champion teams instead of Kobe, and they win all 3 championships, and maybe more, and he and Shaq and the zenmaster would have never had the problems.

And Tmac is not a rapist.
