wow, MJ mentioned tracy mcgrady FIRST

damn, lots of peeps love his game. too bad it's not as flashy as it was to get media attention. now all rocket fans should RELAX. if MJ says tmac is a top 2 player and a type of player he wants on his team, ya'll need to chill.

nba.com, go to videos, find MJ charlotte bobcat video press conference

the two names he mentioned were tracy mcgrady and kobe bryant, which tmac the first named out of his mouth.

Top 3 for scoring for sure, but that's all he's got.

the question is a little tricky. is it referring to the current situation? or each player in their primes?

he was saying who he would want to put this charlotte bobcat over the hump and these 2 are the type of players he wants to build around. he wants that guy who can take over and lead in the 4th.

regardless of what, to hear MJ say that tells what kind of player tracy is. now you tracy haters need to step back and hear the greatest of all time say that about YOUR franchise player.

    here's what MJ really said:

he said tmac and kobe are the two type of "MJ-like leaders" that he would want right now.

(On how long it will take to build a championship team) It’s stages of success. We went through this stage in Chicago. It took us six years before we got to that point. When you look back in terms of how that was charted, each year was more successful. We went to the playoffs, then we went further in the playoffs, then further. We can continue to move in the right direction. Right now, I think our motivation is to get to the playoffs, get the taste of what it feels like, and get our young guys the experience in terms of dealing with those types of pressures. Then we can go into the following season, go deeper, and see how much that experience pays off for us. Before we can go through all that, we have to have a nucleus to get us to step one. We’re close to getting to a playoff-type of team. If we can get the components, from a coaching standpoint to a player here and there, we can get to the playoffs and then get deeper in the playoffs. What’s the timeframe for that? I would be guessing to say five, six, or seven years. We would hope sooner, but you never know. It depends on who that key component is, who that leader may be. If it was Michael Jordan, that’s an easy answer, but it’s hard to find those types of players. Tracy McGrady and Kobe Bryant are two. In some respects, you have to develop that player. Once he’s developed, it’s easier to look down the road to see how quickly it will take us to get to that point. I think we have to learn how to walk before we run, and if we do that we will stay afloat a lot longer than if we get up and run now. There are a lot of potholes you can run into.

it's as simple as it gets. again, tracy is not scoring alot like he used to b/c he's on a different team. but if u watch games and study games like MJ or magic or the coaches, u know who tracy really is - a top 3 player really.

hey guys does any 1 remember the rox vs the spurs last season(1 of the "best" defensive teams in the league???? i believe it went somthing like this: 13 points in 32 secs........Tmac can score when he needs to but if u want him to put up those gody numbers u will have less assissts bad team chemistry and you risk him messing up his back again....plus eash player has to adjust to the coaching style and players around him.... i think tmac is a hell of alot better than kobe. however, i dont think he has the same work ethic kobe has. matter of fact, the only player to have that same lvl of work ethic is Jordan maybe thats why they are compared to each other alot.

Don't forget peeps... Kevin Durant bases his game on McGrady's style of play, not Kobe :D

most of the HS/college players pattern their game after tmac (according to an SI poll 2 yrs ago). no one plays like him. lebron is close but he's not as "smooth." he's more of a "power" player.

After tonight's performance by Kobe I really don't think T-Mac can do it anymore, maybe he had the ability when he was in Orlando, but Kobe's mind is just on another level, he shoots horrible in the 3rd quarter but somehow he can put everything behind him, this guy catches fire every single game.

Kobe's doing some amazing things right now, I still can't believe it. He is so clutch on all levels.

I feel T-Mac with his unselfishness brings a different kind of greatness, however.

I will love to see him score 50 but if Tmac can have a 30pts and 10 assists (which is 20+ pts) = 50+ pts

    all that and a "" W "" :D .........its better than 50pts and a "" L ""

b/c kobe doesn't pass. he kept shooting and shooting so EVENTUALLY he'll get into a rhythm if he misses. the longest kobe goes w/o shooting is what? 2 possessions.

mac was the same way in orlando, but not to that extreme

Tmac is a rhythm shooter like Kobe

but he doenst have the luxury to just shoot his way out of some cold hands like what Kobe did

Kobe was freakin cold in the 3rd and begining of the 4th..but he kept shooting until he got hot

Tmac Cant afford that because a better option would be to go through Yao down low

If Tmac jacked up 50 shots...i am sure he is giong to get at least 40pts

Im saying. Give me 30 points 10 assist and the W over a guy chucking up 45 shots 3-12 3's and a loss.

I dont know what you guys want, but it seems you want the flash over the substance. The guy who looks good but loses in the same right.

Some people need to re-evaluate their basketball knowledge.
