I'm a Rockets fan and I understand being loyal and reppin your team, but Yao the best C in the world...that's some bs man. He's 7'5 and he got blocked by a 5'9 Robinson...hardly a characteristic of the best center in the world.

This post is hardly characteristic of a Rockets fan so I guess you and Yao are mano-a-mano. What does being blocked by a 5'9 player have to do with it being bs to call Yao the best center? Does Robinson's not have a vertical or a reach longer than 5'9? Or do NBA players who have the capability to dunk also have the capability to get to the rim and block shots? You are in your right to present evidence that Yao is not the best center in the world however it's asinine of you to use the Nate Robinson block as proof ... you can do a better job than that.

whether he has a ring or not, Mike james has one anyyway so id rather he be our "championship experience" than butler, even tho neither "championship experience" will make much of a difference since both of them didnt play big parts with their teams

Without that block, Yao could be the best C in the world? I guess basketball games only have one shot. If that one shot doesnot go in, game is over??? Use your mind not your ass to think, please

    2 things:

1.) Yao was fouled on the play, poking Yao's eye on the follow through is a foul.

2.) Ewing once got blocked by Muggsy Bogues. Does this make him a lesser player and any less of a Hall of Famer? Ewing has faults for sure, but being blocked by Bogues once is not among them.

Some Rockets fan you are. Usually fans on a team defend their own players against bullsh*t arguments that they suck.

I didn't say that, I was just givin one example of why he isn't. I'm just not gonna take the time to write out an essay of why he's not the best center in the world.

I never said Yao sucked, I just said he wasn't the best center in the world. And I would defend him if someone said he sucked, cuz he doesn't. He wouldn't be an all-star if he sucked.

Ok I figured out that replying to your posts is just wasting my time. This is my last reply. You are pretty much like those espn idiots on tv, cause they always use their asses to think, not their mind.

I'e seen Spud webb block the crap out of david robinon, so that makes david robinson a crap player?. the fact is besides a healthy shaq, yao is the best C in the game.

So how does Yao overcome the Nate Robinson block? Earl Boykins needs to go block Shaq to move Yao back up? So everytime they're trying to decide 1st team All-NBA, in 2009 they're gonna say Yao's very good, but..*Asterisk*, he got blocked 3 years ago by Nate Robinson...Amare, you're automatic moved up to 1st team

As for Butler, for a guy of he's stature and size, i'm suprised how soft he's hands are. he really has a great feel for the game(on offense anyway). he has a nice Arsenal of low post moves. he can rebound to. initally i expected 4 points 3 boards a game from him, but dont be suprised if he avge 9 and 7 off the bench. he'll be a very handy asset off the bench.

BTW, we've gone from a very thin team(depth wise) to a very , very deep team. cnsider that we have guys like Mike james, Bonzi Wells, Kirk Snyder, Arron Brooks, and now butler coming off the bench, that is some seriouse depth ..

Who is the best center in the world then? Shaq has gone far downhill. You could make a case for Amare, but his efficiency is helped greatly by Steve Nash and their style of play. He can't play a lick of D either.

Okay this is an UNDEDICATED thread about Jackie Butler now :p

Has anyone tried to watch him play? First thing I saw is he's not at all fleet of foot. He does have a few back to the basket moves and seems a load to handle in the paint for smaller guys if he's assertive. He'd abuse the Shane Battier's masquerading at power forward. Even saw him hit a turnaround jumper from 12 feet out.

His defense from what I saw, his reaction was kinda slow. Against the Kings, Spencer Hawes saw Butler was guarding him and he went around and over him with abandon. Either seemed Butler was a bit lazy on the D or there's not much he can do to quard quicker players at his size...He did come back on the offensive end and take him down low with a few low post points of his own though...And he seemed to swing the ball out from the low post, too. Instead of being the usual non passing black hole big men his size can be.

If, IF he could bring his WEIGHT DOWN he could be a good rotation player, and a decent backup to Yao. If not even a starter for some teams. As of TODAY he can be an IR player, 3rd option at C. I would prefer to bring back Deke for one more year (forget the detractors) cuz I wouldnt just hand him the backup role today. Unless in Adelman's offense they put someone like Scola there for bit minute as a Vlade Divac/Brad Miller type, which I can see happening.

I'm glad you were able to "use your mind" to think up something new to say instead of the same thing twice dumbass.

You still didn't respond to the fact that Ewing once got blocked by Bogues and nobody gives a crap about it.

Who is the best center in the NBA if not Yao? Tim Duncan likes to play PF and repeatedly calls himself PF, so he's out. Amare plays C, but he likes to play PF, plays like a PF, and even though he is helped by Steve Nash, still he is not performing at Yao's level. Shaq is aging and declining, the writing is on the wall already. Dwight Howard doesn't have enough offensive skill, and out of all of the non-Duncan candidates, all of them play poor to mediocre defense. Yao is better than them all.
