I’m a big morey critic but he isn’t a failure. Like harden there are a couple of fundamental flaws he just doesn’t tackle. At some point you have to be build through the draft, or be confident in your ability to do so . Spamming 3s without a strategy also falls flat on its face. The only time it worked was when cp3 was the floor general

Cp3 that year was waaaaaay better than he was the next year. Or did you forget his games 4 and 5.

And yet we only lost the game by 9 points, yea I do believe we would have won. A lot can go wrong in game 7, both teams were nervous. And Cp3 is one of the most clutch players ever.

And yet they lost two in a row to us with Cp3. And we only lost game by 7 points. Stop using the next year as the answer to that, it does not work. That team wasnt as good and Cp3 had a down year.

    And Durant had Russ.

You're trying to completely downplay his accomplishments, completely, just because he played with Durant.

Too much money owed to DM, no way he’s shown the door so the speculation is fine by me but it isn’t happening. Too many irons in the fire for MDA with other offers so I’d guess he’s gone. No way Tilman pays him what he’ll ask.

I see no reason to stay small if MDA leaves. We talked about it being do or die game 7 OKC, what’s changed? Nothing. We’re stuck between a rock and hard place. Find a C and roll the ball out again. Not any good choices now.

Morey is too good a GM to let go after this funky, asterisk season.

No, I'm not trying to down play them. He's the worst of the trio. Look at what happend when Durant left. Now look at what happend when he got Paul George, not look at what happend when he's our team.

Yup. He was one of the rare ones who wanted to battle with harden when nobody else would. Especially being the big bad Dynasty of GS. He’s also the one who will tell it like it is. Who cares if you don’t like it. The rockets have always needed that and it’s no coincidence they had a couple of there best teams with him in the harden era

You know what you get when you don’t have accountability. This trash of a team and showing in the playoffs. “We stayed up and watched film”. Lmfao. What film did y’all watch to get blown out from the get go

Still not end of his era after this year? What is he going to do good for you? He is going to sign coach Mike for another ten year contact to play his small ball system, only win one game so far in this series.

We haven't found the right compliment of players to mesh with Harden's game. We've got to keep searching. :D

They still beat us with CP3 though, the only way you can say with any certainty is if we had a perfect record against them with CP3. We didn't. We played them close with CP3, it's not like were smoking them. Anything could have happened is right, but that's not what you're saying. You're locking it in that we would have won.

I think it's clear we wouldn't have with any certainty. You're saying CP3s following year was a down year...yeah, that's why we traded him. Had we won the championship we likely don't trade him.

Cp wasnt the same player? And we had no wings? We lost Ariza and Moute and replaced them with House and Shumper...both of whom were not great. We lost game 7 by 9 POINTS of course he would have made a difference. They should have honestly blowed us out game 7 but didnt, Cp3 is a big game performer, he absolutely would helped us win in game 7.

He was better the next year though? We would have had a much better year. And his stats last year ARE STILL BETTER THAN WESTBROOK'S this year....what are you not getting about that.

    Nice logic.

Westbrook is just having a down year. Just wait til next year man.

Because championship teams definitely has the time for for 34 year old pg getting paid 40 million dollar a year and just jerk off for one entire season. That totally makes sense because that's just what professional players do, it's entirely okay to blow a championship season because it's a down year and then expect not to be traded.

Was he though? At the time, he wasn't. At the time, it was Harden who didn't show up in the finals. In fact his finals numbers were HORRIBLE that year.

That's what first got him the label as a choker, then he surely hasn't shed that label since coming here. He had like one good game that series and had some terrible games where...well...he looked like this.

Rebuild. Take a chance on a Kenny Smith, Shane Battier or Joe Dumars as GM. Bring in a young, energetic coach like Lue. The Rockets need another face in the front office

LMAO, Wesbrook is playing in ways that line up with his entire career. Cp was not.

LOL that 34 year old almost beat us in 7. He also out played Westbrook and has been better than him all year. So yea it was a bad decision. We would be beating the Lakers right now with Cp.

Wb started his down years like 3-4 years ago. This is just a continuation. Been garbage especially in the playoffs for years and this is just another added to the resume. He becomes more and more useless as his athleticism goes away and he’s already a dumb iq player so there’s that.

Welp, we know how that turned out dont we.

Harden has really great stats these playoffs, go and check. He has the least super star help out of any team in the playoffs.

CP3 wasn’t the answer either. He’s definitely better than Westbrook but too short to defend taller players, AND he’s injury prone, or did some people forget. Oh yeah, he’s 35 and his contract tact didn’t expire until he was 37. And while he had a good playoff run this is one of the few times he’s play an entire season, which is probably because he had so much time off.

True, Morey isn’t a failure by any means. The Rockets are respectable, but he’s not bringing a championship to Houston. Morey went all in on small ball, hired MDA to run his system, and gave up draft picks to make it happen. He’s also given up plenty of draft picks in the past just to cover up bad trades and contracts. Getting rid of Ryan’s contract cost the Rockets big time. And now the Westbrook trade. Whether Tillman has his hands on this or not we’ll never know. Maybe it was Harden that forced the hand of Morey and Tillman. Regardless, there’s no easy recovery from this unless somehow the Rockets can trade Westbrook for an up-and-coming player and or picks. That will likely seal the deal for Harden to be moved as well, though.

Let’s face it, Houston isn’t winning a championship playing small ball. It’s one thing to go small like Golden State, but even they aren’t this small. GS actually has guys that can defend in the paint, unlike Houston. Tonight is proof that despite the defensive efforts throughout the playoffs, larger players have their way inside and there’s no answer. I know LeBron is good but how many times did he go in for an uncontested layup over smaller players? That’s easy money when no one is there to protect the rim. That’s not a winning formula.

Remember the old adage, offense wins games, defense wins championships. So true. As fun as it’s been watching a high scoring by offenses, it will only take you so far in the playoffs. We’ve seen this time and time again. Time to blow it up and hope that we can get some players and picks in return. I don’t know what we could get for Westbrook, but I guarantee we can get a good player or two in return for Harden plus picks.
