I would say so however he may be the best center in the game todaybut he is not even in the discussion for GOAT. We can hope that Dream and McHale get the most out of him.
Pippen was a bigger signing. And while it was a trade, that was only a technicality as he was a FA and it was a sign and trade. Let's hope that DH is a more fruitful signing though.
Surely... you... jest. How could Portland have "signed" Drexler in the middle of the 94-95 season after he had already played half the year for them and immediately traded to the Rockets for Otis Thorpe? Besides, the S&T clause IIRC didn't even exist back then.
Drexler was traded here. Valentine's Day. Nolan Ryan > Clemens > Dwight We've never had any FA signing for the Rox like Dwight, ever.
Jeremy Lin surpassed Pippen for the biggest Press Conference in Houston history last year. Let's see how big Dwight's pressed is this Wednesday. I think it's going to be humongous.
A sign and trade is a trade by technicality but the player still agrees to a deal. If this was the old CBA then Howard would have been a S and T too. The pippin signing was much bigger. I'm sure that Howard will do better than pippen but that was still a much bigger catch. Drexler, t-Mac and Barkley were all trades. The Clemens signing was the biggest FA signing in Houston.
Pippen was a big deal, but he turned out to be the biggest D-bag in Rockets history. Least favorite Rocket. R. White never stepped foot on a court so he doesn't count. Clemens and Pettitte were huge. That was an awesome summer.
Jesus, reading a lot of these posts makes me realize a lot of people dont know what the heckk they are talking about when it comes to Rockets history Otis - TRADE Drexler - TRADE Barkley - TRADE Tmac - TRADE How does a player being TRADED here equal being signed as a FA? SMH In my opinion, the biggest FA signing in Rockets history AT THE TIME was Scottie Quitten The Rockets gave him an enormous contract following his 6 rings in 9 year run as arguably a top 5 player in the NBA, was a perennial all-star level superstar talent and on of the greatest defensive players of all time. This was the largest deal at the time only behind Shaq leaving Orlando for LA. What happened during his tenure as a Rocket is irrelevant in terms of this topic. But at the time, the Pippen signing was a HUGE deal for not only Houston, but it also shifted the power in the NBA again back into our favor. The buzz surrounding the Rockets and the deal was a gigantic deal. I remember it very clearly, and the entire city again was on cloud 9. Boy were we wrong in the end. At the time Pippen>Howard any give day. While Pippen did pretty well his on year in Houston, it just didn't work out that way in the end overall.
Pipp was coming off back surgery like Dwight as well. but to be fair pip was in his thirties and Dwight is in peak of powers. Plus pip was a douchbag.
