Yes this team is missing something. It has been missing something for a very long time. Not just 10 years. Not just since they swept the Magic out of the NBA Finals. NOT SINCE EVER!!! What this team lacks is some RESPECT!!! I am sure that will not be a problem for too much longer...
I hope we can get another center. Deke is aging pretty fast, if he goes down, we won't have anyone that can back Yao up.
I think we are good enough to contend this season. One always looks to upgrade, but I think this was an outstanding summer.
Unlike last year, this team doesn't have any glaring holes. But it's missing overall talent. And that's the biggest obstacle between the Rockets and that ring. Just looking at our lineup, and it simply doesn't match up with the very top contenders, like SA or Miami. Granted, talent alone doesn't guarantee wins, but it's still a very big part of the equation. The Rockets, as of right now, still lack some firepower. Although I do agree that SG is our worst spot in the lineup. So if CD can work out a trade or two, that is where we can get the biggest upgrade.
The Rox need our very own European player. That's right. If you look at the trend during the last few years the Lakers had Medvedenko, Spurs had Ginobilli and Parker, and the Pistons had Darko. That's right folks, in the 21st century, no team in the NBA can win a title without their very own European player. I don't care if the guy is a scrub, as long as he's played in Europe and can pass/shoot that's all that really matters. Too bad the Boki experiment didn't work out.
I think there's a slight dearth of shooters. Players like McGrady, Yao, and Alson will all create open perimeter shots. We don't have enough players to hit them.
Fine. After this year when we win the championship, every team will need a Shanghai player to get to the top. Liu Wei (the Shanghai Sharks pg) will be the hottest commodity in the next offseason.
What about Wesley, Barry, and Head? DA is decent. Since Skip and Tmac can hit em, we'll usually always have 3 shooters on the floor. We can only play one shooter at a time when those two are in the game anyway.
Tom Delay? He's kinda busy right now, what with that indictments for conspiracy and money-laundering thing and all. Plus, he's undersized for the NBA enforcer role, and a scum-sucking, power-abusing, corrupt asshat to boot. Might as well sign Karla Malone out of retirement.
