Referees can decide the outcome over a game where the two teams are separated by a flimsy margin. The Lakers didn't beat us by 40 points because of the referees, that's for sure.

If you count the refs from back then, yes.

I'll take the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls, with a combined 87-13 record in the regular season and playoffs as the most dominant team of all time. Two sweeps in the playoffs, and up 3-0 in the Finals before Seattle managed a couple meaningless wins and closing the door in game 6.

13 losses IN ONE HUNDRED GAMES.

    That's dominant. Period.

If you wanna know what the most IMPRESSIVE playoff run was? I'll take the season before, with the 1994-1995 Rockets winning only 47 or so games in the regular season, then beating FOUR teams in the playoffs with 57 or more regular season wins, including sweeping the Magic in the Finals.

Maybe, not quite yet. This year's Heat could very well rank among the best in history, but they have two competition to go through.

    1. 2006 USC Trojans, led by Reggie Bush and Matt Linert, a team that ESPN and everyone else proclaimed to be the best college football team in history
    2. 2008 Patriots, which destroyed everyone on their way to a sparkling 18-0 record into the Super Bowl. Forget the 72 Dolphins, any of the great Packer/Steeler/Cowboy/Niners teams. That was the greatest team ever assembled in history.

Can Miami match them? I don't know. We'll just have to see.

The Heat might not even be the most dominant team in the playoffs this year....it may be the Mavs... Now excuse me while I go to the bathroom and throw up

Good post. I don't know if Miami can match those two great teams, but I think they're right there with the 2004 Los Angeles Lakers. What a great team! Four Hall-of-Famers, two of them in their prime. Had won 3 of the previous 4 titles. A team built for a title.

I'd also throw out the 1999 Spurs, who went 5-4-4-5 in the playoffs. They don't get a lot of respect because of the short season, but they should. I also don't think they coughed up any 15 point leads in the last half of the 4th quarter.

Exactly, not to point out the obvious but the Eastern Conference sucks noodles. Chicago and Dallas are the only good teams this Miami team has faced (Boston was already out of gas in the second round). Those Jordan teams faced the bad boy Pistons, The Ewing Knicks, Showtime Lakers, Stockton/Malone, hell even the Craig Ehlo/ Mark Price Cavs are better than any team in the East this year that isn't Chicago or Miami.

Well, if you include college sports, you've got to include UConn women's basketball.

... and UH golf team back in the days.

The only negative on Fo-Fi-Fo is that Iavaroni was the greatest scrub to ever start on a championship team :p

This statement was false even if they swept the Finals, and it's downright Baghdad Bob-esque to consider this after the ridiculous choke yesterday.

This is the problem: Miami fans and players celebrate BEFORE they achieve anything.

Haven't read through these 4 pages but I mean the answer is pretty obvious.

Both Dallas and Miami have only lost 4 games this postseason. Dallas has played western conference contenders and swept the defending champs. Miami has played eastern conference. Not only are they not the most dominant ever. They aren't the most dominant in this post season.
