    When was it not?

Cleverly disguised "but they started it" and "they are stupid, we are intellectual philosophers" finger-pointing post ;).

Prior to the Iraq War. Bush actually got a lot of leeway - far more than Obama has, for example - from his election through the Iraq war stuff.

The evidence is there. Just look at the many threads here and follow their progress from discussion to hurling insults. Look at your own initial post in this thread - it's a big "the left are a bunch of lemmings" post.

I enjoy the discussions with the Refmans of the world - the intellectual right is GREAT. They just are overwhelmed here and in the real political world by the anti-intellectual right. I think the intellectual right here would agree, as does the punditry class (David Brooks, etc) as they have similarly criticized the demonization of intelligence on the right.

If I was American, I would most probably be a conservative democrat. I like (Bill) Clinton and Obama. I would also consider myself a "liberal" in a sense of advocating personal freedoms and a relatively free market economy; strangely, the term "liberal" is used in the US in a different way. I just don't like the way some of the leftist posters act on this board, and I think it is a big part of the reason why people from the other side don't bother to argue with them sincerely anymore.

I don't know if this board is liberally biased, but one thing I know for sure, it's biased towards highly intelligent people.

While I may not agree with them, from moderate conservatives to liberals, there's some very smart people. Too bad they engage the moronic tea baggers on here.

That's certainly true now because things have degenerated pretty far. But if you look back to how it started, it was because of GOP anti-intellectualism to a large degree.

And if you look at the reasonable threads that ARE started here now, they tend to have pretty good discussions between the left and the intellectual right (the guys I mentioned earlier, plus juicystream, weslinder, etc) and then degrade when the bigtexxx's or esteban's or da Whoppers or bassos of the world chime in with a bunch of nonsense. The left has it's version of that in glynch - but it's more limited and far less common than the collection of those on the right.

Back in the early-mid 2000's, you had plenty of good conservations here. When T_J and bigtexxx became the most vocal of the bunch and derailed every conversation with nonsense, it all started to go downhill - why try to have a discussion with someone not interested in it?

Me either. The board use to be free of xenophobes who when challenged on the merits of the debate resorted to attacking people personally about what they might have posted years ago.

This place was better 5 or 6 years ago.

I know they both do not post much here anymore, but how could you forget Batman Jones and Rocketman95/Groogrux? You cannot seriously complain about bigtexxx and T_J, unless you complain equally about these two, regardless of perspective, otherwise you are biased.

As I posted above - you might as well say "why try to have a discussion with someone who will demonize you as soon as you disagree with them" (which is what BJ did a lot). Also, what defines an "intellectual" - it always seems to me like the left would try to monopolize that word. I don't think bigtexxx or T_J are in any way less intellectual than those on the left, on the contrary - they are just better at making fun of the other side (and they are probably more successful in real life, too).

By the way, where did bamaslammer go, he was one of the conservative posters.

Your case is special. This is not about what someone "might have posted years ago", but about being such a weirdo that you would, as you claim, create a persona and then make thousands of posts supposedly pretending to hold certain positions that have supposedly never been your own. That's just...I don't even know what to call it. Weird, I guess.

When you were still a neo-con?

i, for one, have learned alot from this board. my conservative upbringing (and living in utah) has me thirsty for a more liberal outlook - and i think clutchfans provides that. a taste of home, if you will.

i find the liberal persepctives of this board refreshing. carry on clutchfans.

The differerence between the two groups is that bigtexxx and T_J don't provide any useful content with their insults. Their "analysis" of issues never went beyond boilerplate one-liners you can find on a GOP website. They rarely engaged in any discussion beyond that. That's exactly what Sarah Palin does, and is in-part what I am referring to in the term anti-intellectualism. There's no substance to them - it's a bunch of surface-level rhetoric that gets repeated over and over without any analysis.

Say what you want about Batman and his posting style, he did argue issues on their merits in an analytical way.

I will also say for the "lemming" comment - you see plenty of threads here with people on the left disagreeing (often vehemently) with each other on a wide range of issues. That's not exactly lemming behavior. You will never see that with the anti-intellectual right on this board. They stick to their "lower taxes" / "Obama is evil" rhetoric and never really veer from that.

As noted in my first post, this also follows the real world politics. Democrats are often disagreeing with each other in Congress, while the GOP acts in virtual lockstep with no discussion or disagreement at all.

I have not seen much of that. It seems to me that people from the same "camp" (leftists, "islam defenders") almost never argue with each other. Case in point, nobody spoke up when Hydhypedplaya kept calling me Hitler. None of the leftists, none of the islamists. Nobody defended it either, but it's like "you say ANYTHING about my "enemy", it's fair game".

is it that easy being a turd? Because sometimes I wonder how you get through life being such a big and smelly one.

May I suggest you deal with your xenophobia and anger issues and maybe you will just be half a turd.

You could always start over at the RealGM boards. Others have done it before, and have even become "Global Moderators" (although it didn't save them from being ridiculed there as well, when you are a ridiculous person, it comes out sooner or later, apparently).

Sorry, unlike you, I don't post on here every 18 minutes. I got a life sir, I suggest you try it.

Stop hating muslims and maybe you can do something like walk in the park.

As I previously pointed out to you, while I have been posting a lot during the past few months (there is of course a reason for that), my post per day average is still below yours. So you failed again with that argument (which, of course, doesn't stop you from repeating it). And now stop derailing the liberal vs. conservative thread, this thread is not about you, you were just the freak show side note.
