Notre Dame was founded by Irish Catholics and is an Irish Catholic school. The Atlanta Braves probably don't even have a Native American working for them.
it was founded by French Catholics... http://admissions.nd.edu/CampusCulture/fightingirish.cfm </derail>
This is a test of the emergency broadcast system -- this is only a test. -------------Loud Squeal----------------
No kidding. We Texans get p!ssed when we're portrayed as backward, slow-thinking rednecks, but we don't see why Native Americans would be offended at the Tomahawk Chop.
Or the Irish American community with the Boston Celtics with both the team name, colors, and and their fat little leprecaun (sp?) mascot. Or Texans (as in the people of Texas, not the Houston team) and the Cowboys stereotypical presentation of us with Rowdy, the Cowboy's mascot. PC sucks.
Maybe because we didn't try to commit genocide against those people and destroy their culture... It is not about "pc" this time, it is about some overdue respect.
Exactly. If they are offended, too damned bad. I'm tired of having to walk about on eggshells because everyone gets offended every 2 damned seconds. That's why we can't have good ethnic humor anymore, because of this PC b.s. May the Redskins remain so and may the Braves continue to do the Thomahawk chop and may those offended kiss my arse.
So, that whole acting offending about Alabama being full of uneducated, inbred hicks was just an act on your part? You had us all fooled.
i like the tomahawk chop. i even named the qb i created in ncaa 2k4 Tomahawk Chop because the FSU song was on at that time. i like the chant a lot. like someone else said, i'm sure it's great to be at a game and have the whole stadium doing it. i don't know, people with the #1 song in the country and who make craploads of money?
My main gripe is when people try to say things like "You white folks don't know what its like to be stereotyped." That's crap. We know whats it like, and we don't usually get all worked up about it, especially when its a team representing those very stereotypes with a hell of a lot of pride.
