Yao, because it's way too risky for a GMs job security.

Unless their names start with "Yao" and end with "Ming", Les will trade them in a heart beat for an elite player. That's the way it is in this business, we've grown to love our players and by Feb, next thing you know they are playing against us on another team... :(

I would trade anyone for more productive players but I agree with this. I think most teams would consider Hayes a throw in where as we know his true value. I hope, if it comes down to matching salaries to make a deal work, we could substitute Cook or Andersen instead of Hayes.

I agree.. but I would like to re-arrange the order

Hayes, Landry, add Lowry and Brooks ;)

Yao of course is a given.

Those are my favorite players on the team... in that order other than Yao he would go before Landry (at the end of it I would like to tack on Shane, Chase and then Luis)

    Lowry, Landry, Hayes

I don't think Hayes has any trade value anyways. He'll stay here forever.

No player on the team is untouchable. That said, the players that I would hate to see traded the most are Lowry and Battier. Despite certain limitations, they're two of the smartest, most consistent basketball players around and a joy to watch.

Nope I'm DM minded.. Nobody on this team is upgradeable as long as we get the right pieces.

Landry! Don't care if it's an upgrade in talent. You're not gonna better production from a guy getting paid $3 mill a year. Plus he's just awesome.

Only Chuck Hayes unless we got Derrick Rose or a #1 draft pick or something for him. I don't see how we would trade him.

People know Landry and Brooks's value. If we traded them we would get a superstar in return.

The only thing other GMs would give for Hayes is some fresh pocket lint.

TMac, on the other hand, would fetch some old pocket lint.

Why do I think Scola is #1 untouchable player?

    1. Scola has high AFG% at .52, only behind Landry this season. He has only 1.8 TOs per game so far.
    2. Scola has to defend the other starters from other teams, many of them are all-stars type of players whom Landry does not need to play against. Scola did well.
    3. Scola has the #1 rebounds in this team.
    4. Scola is healthy. He plays all season long.
    5. Scola played smart, and as hard as anyone in this team.
    6. Scola has salary around 3.4 mil/year, which make him a unique player in this league with such a high production. He is a steal even with doubled salary.
    7. Scola is an ideal teammate, never complained, always praised teammates.

IMO, Scola is the #1 keepers among all players, injured or not.

I would say no one is safe, given the business of sports, even the best players on the court.

But, I would have to say

Not Quite Untouchable, but d@mn Near it UnTouchable:

Yao Ming (When you look at in actuality, the players we would trade Yao for are pretty much unavailable or not coming to Houston . . . if we traded Yao, we probably wouldn't get good value for him, especially not another (younger) franchise player [Kobe, Lebron, Dwight, CP3, or Wade - get real guys]. It might fetch us a deal for a 3 quality role players and possibly a draft pick. I've rarely seen an NBA trade where one superstar gets traded for another one. We'd almost be better off keeping, Yao. Also, consider that this guy is still a top 3 center, even when he is hobbling. Who else can we get to (realistically) replace Yao and help us get better? There are centers/pfs who can rebound, but can't score. Then, there are big men who can score, but can't play a lick of defense. Then, there are those who are bit more complete, and on that short list you'll find Yao Ming's name. Yet, the one problem, we have with him is his health (and athleticism for some people)...though who replaces him after we trade him. Like, I said we aren't going to get equal value for Yao, just look at Shaq trade from LA, the two Barkley trades, the T-Wolves dealing KG, or the Nique to the Clippers deal. The Rockets could easily get Thaddeus Young, Samuel Dalembert, and A.I., if T-Mac turned into Yao. The Sixers would jump on that deal, more so than T-Mac. Other teams would follow, but we wouldn't get any superstars in any packages... except maybe Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh, or Danny Granger.

Carl Landry or Luis Scola (Both players are fairly untouchable in the sense that they make the team competitive together at the power forward position. Very formidable duo, as nice dirty work players.

Brooks and/or Lowry (Both still have a lot of potential and are fairly young...and a good combo at point guard... Both are very much above average and to see that they aren't too many great point guards out there waiting in the wings unless we can get Chris Paul or Deron Williams for them...we couldn't get a valuable player for them without giving up other pieces). Pf and pg are both kind of necessity for us, and most teams. We've seen how bad (offense/defense/rebounding) it can be, when you don't have either one.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    Fairly Untouchable

Battier (Still, a top notch defender in the league and is an outstanding floor general. Probably not as valuable as alot of all-star players and more impactful scorers, but I wouldn't want to let him go for B-level talent. Especially, when the player in question won't bring the same type of intangibles and leadership skills as Shane.)

Chuck Hayes (See Battier, we aren't going to find someone else who is as skilled defensively as the Chuck Wagon. He is our version of kryptonite vs. the big men of the NBA. He has consistently put the breaks on some very good players. I'd think he'd be necessity to the team, especially if everyone is healthy. Though, if the right deal comes along, I guess we'd have to let him go)

Chase Budinger (Would let him go for the right deal.)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
The other teams can have them

Trevor Ariza (Don't understand why the team would expect him to be 20 ppg scorer, too much responsibility for him in marathon season. His offense is worse than I imagine and his defense hasn't exactly been jaw-dropping. Then, his attitude can stink at times.)

what youre saying makes sense, but all of those things dont make him untouchable, they make him a bigger trading chip if the right deal comes along.

he's also one of the oldest players on the team, sorry scola is good, but if i wanted to choose between landry and scola, i would take landry at this point, but if scola was landry's age or younger then i would take scola in a heartbeat
