Read the OP. We are NOT a better team without Tracy. He is the MAIN reason (NOT the only reason) the Rockets don't run Adelman's offense. Get it? I also did NOT say the Rockets never run it with Tracy in the game. Last season, it took him sitting out for a while and coming back before getting in tune with the rest of the team, hence the win streak. I submit the win streak wouldn't have happened without Tracy sitting out and seeing the other players click together without him on the floor. He admitted it.
lol he means a big that shoots midrange jumpers or stands at the top of the key and dissects the defense with quick passes to backdoor cutters, etc. like Adelman had in Brad Miller, for example.
I guess after this single game you prefer to march into a 7 game series with Head starting instead of T-Mac. I don't buy this "system" stuff either and definitely won't be a part of the "we're better without T-Mac" crew. If Yao would go up strong and Artest convert on layups we'd be looking like the 02/03 Kings. The offense gets stagnant when Yao goes into pudding mode and Artest goes into AI mode. A majority of the shots we've had are shots that you're supposed to convert on 50-60% of the time and we haven't been doing so.
If this is the case, why did the offense SUCK against Indiana just the game before this w/out Tracy??? Luther & Rafer were great tonight. When are shots are falling this offense looks like it works if they don't folks say fire Rick. Stick to your own rule.
Got it, He did pretty well tonight. Hit a couple of long jumpers and I tought recognized where the double was coming from. Yao's game is just not good from the high post, I don't like having our best rebounder out of position for a offensive board.
This team in the long run cannot be successful without Tracy McGrady. Everyone must realize that. We can't judge Tmac's contribution to this team just from one game. I'll agree that Tmac does have some problems of holding the ball out on the perimeter and stopping ball movement. But you can also say Artest has some problems dribbling the ball too much and playing one-on-one. Or that Yao has some problems making quick decisions. We just have realize that this team is still a work in progress. There are only small adjustments that the players need to make. When Tmac's at his best, he is a Top 2 or 3 scorer in this league. That's not an exaggeration. A big time scorer like that will be dangerous in a perfected offensive system.
It just shows that the motion offense is not eight for this team......TMac is an important part of the game and our offense has to go through him.
Artest and Yao definitely contributed to the win tonight, maybe their stats did not reflect it but they did
Come on, you're implying that we're better without McGrady. This will lead to a bashing thread, you know it, I know it. Can't say you're wrong, can't say you're right. McGrady ran with the RA offense last year when he was more healthy, but right now he is not. Yet you need to mention Yao and Artest's performance. Artest takes shots worse than McGrady and he doesn't even attempt to set up his teammate. Artest shot us out the game a few times already, and nearly this game as well when the Spurs got close. Yao is being Yao, but he makes a lot of mistakes as well. He only had 1 rebound tonight. The things is, the big 3 don't seem to coexist very well at this moment. This is why we need one of them on the bench, preferably Artest. We need to see what happens when McGrady comes back, we need to see how RA will play his lineup. We can't forget that RA is a player coach, but not a star player coach.
It just proves that the offense is for our 2nd unit and not for our 1st unit. Something most of us already knew.
ok. First of all, I don't agree that it's all on Tracy, but yeah. let's just talk as if you were right. Why do we have to adapt adelman's offence tactics while the ace is struggling to fit into it. Don't we have to make team with concept that Tracy Yao can play well is the most important thing? Why do we have to make tactic first and then fit our star players to that tactic?
Last year I disagree with. Tracy fit right in as the centerpiece of our offense after Yao went out--primarily because he realized that he was going to have to put the team on his shoulders. What frustrates people is that Tracy should feel this way all the time, but he doesn't, partially I think because he believes playing like the dominant star he should be will impose on him more wear and tear than his body can't handle. As for this year...I don't know if I would word it as "Adelman's" offense per se, but I definitely agree that he has been hampering us on both ends of the floor the entire year. Bill Simmons doesn't watch much Rockets basketball, and frankly doesn't know much about sports in general (which is why his wife is better than him at predicting things), but he's great at hyperbole and summing up an entire situation in one line, and his line on Tracy McGrady was something to the effect of: "It was heartbreaking for me to see what has become of McGrady. He couldn't even get separation from Rasho Nesterovic!" And that basically sums up Tracy McGrady this year. He's got no hops, he's got no quickness, he's got no first step that's fooling anyone, he's a cancer on defense, and almost all of it can be attributed to his bum knee (or perception thereof). That's why when we do something like put Luther in place of him, we see all of a sudden someone with the speed necessary to play offense and defense in the NBA, and it's refreshing. It has nothing to do with Adelman..T-Mac is just a bad NBA player right now and has masked it statistically by posting up a ton on offense, shooting a bunch of free throws, and playing zero defense. I hope he stays on the bench for a long time until the old T-Mac can show up, because this one won't be taking us anywhere.
I'm happy to see luther perform and earn his money. I do wish Tmac's brain and/or body would allow him to push the rock and run RA's offense. RA's offense is a proven commodity and would take pressure off of Tmac to score, which will help him on defense. I think RA's offense allows anyone to have a big game if you move/cut with some passion and capble of shooting wide open shots. I like our running game and yes Tmac does slow us down and continues in JVG tradition of walking the ball up and running pNr all night long or posting up. I have the feeling Morey is trying to trade Tmac somewhere.
Our offense shouldn't depend on one person, we should be able to get contributions from everyone. Just like the C's who got timely contributions grom Garnett, Pierce, and Jesus Shuttlesworth, and Posey. Their role players also contributed. Run the offense and lets take what the D is giving us. We can't keep going to a handicapped superstar who is playing on a bum knee. We're asking for L's doing this.
you, among many others, seriously don't watch enough. what about the game v. the pacers? tracy didn't play. what about the 2nd quarter where we tried to go to yao a lot in today's game? tracy didn't play. get this point through your head. yao and tracy will never run adelman's offense. they can increase the ball movement, but they will never run his motion offense. the motion offense is only seen with the 2nd unit. and didn't tracy play the 3 road games where we shot above 45% in every game? these threads really make me question's posters' intelligence about the game of basketball.
This is the exact reason what went wrong with our offense when TMAC plays. offense go through TMAC= every possession go to Yao = dumb lazy offense = lose= anti-motion-offense.
i try not to bother to responses like these and threads like these b/c clearly they don't watch the game (they assume tracy is the cause of every problem that we have). if the OP's claim is tracy is the reason the offense is not working, put yao in there. put artest in there. the only guy who runs adelman's offense in the starting lineup is scola. nobody else. but once again, everything goes back to tracy.
