I don't mean to support either side( [IMG]), but the Harris, Rambis, and at the beginning of his reign, Phil Jackson tried this.

    Didn't work.

It did work in '95 when Herrera went down, no doubt. So, I think your points describe well that Horry is a flake, like he has to be in a championship playoff run to play some defense.

    Achebe,

I apologize for my attitude. I guess you know its not like me to type like that.

By the way, can anyone tell me the answer about Horry and if he is the one that can opt out of the contract or is that a team thing, etc?

I still would like Horry no matter what some say about ideologies, philosophies and the like. Just because I want the guy doesn't mean we are going to get him. I am just starting a thread with a decent question(I think)and curiousity in knowing Horrys situation.

I am not commenting on the argument or anything, just want to say that I think what people like so much about Popeye, in addition to the fact that he often has great information, is that he never seems to try to appear smarter than other people. He doesn't need that.

Horry is a decent proven player who's had his moments, but I think its highly unlikely he will ever be a Rocket again or for the Rockets to even heavily pursue him. I'm not sure how he would fit in this new system.

A similar player who we have a more realistic chance of acquiring would Austin Croshere. Though he didn't exactly turn any heads this season, he's got more pure athleticism than our man Robert, and can drain the outside shot with more efficiency. However, I doubt that at this point in his career he can guard the PF's of the West as Horry is capable of. And I'm assuming Almu that you implied we get Horry to play the 4, right?

Why don't we just wait til the trading deadline next year to get Horry? Bob can step in and play the big games in Webber's place while he's crying about how he can't beat Shaq and Duncan.

Freak, Webber complain? What makes you say that? [IMG]

    Azim,

I am talking about Horry playing the four with the occasional slide to the three when we need to go big or give playing time to...Webber?

If no Webber, then Antonio Davis?

Well, whatever. Horry on the team would be nice at the four. I don't know if he and the Rockets burned any bridges. My memory fails me at this point so does anyone remember Horry being pissed to the point of no return?

Also, I like Croshere also but he has a tendency to get hurt, don't you guys think?

The only definite thing I remember is when we traded him, he said (paraphrasing here), "it'll be nice to not have to stand on the perimeter and dump it in to Hakeem all the time". Instead of "Hakeem" he may have said "post". I still remember him making the "dump it in" gesture with both arms over his head. He said it with a smile, though, so I doubt any malice was intended.

DOD, It's much cooler to DIT to Shaq than to DIT to Dream.

Almu, I know you normally don't get mad like that. Sometimes heybetme's jokes only amuse himself, but overall he's not a bad guy. [IMG]

Besides, if we couldn't post just for the sake of ribbing each other, the summer would be vvvvvveerry loooonnng.

    Good one Achebe Heybetme

I don't think Rudy particularly liked him, but he was pretty good when he was here, and would be a solid contributor(10-12 ppg, 6 rpg, good 3-Point Shooter)for the team.

When he was entering his prime he was regarded as one of the future stars of the league. Pistons almost traded Sean Elliot(All-Star the previous season, and playing like one that season) for Horry, before a failed physical by an add-on to the deal.

    Huh?

    Right?

I'm an IDIOT for saying you have "anti-Rudy philosophies" ... uh ... "because [you] state that you don't like ISOs".

I'm worthy of a 4 Yr Almu moment, because I declare I'm taking a jab at you. I'm worthy of a 4 yr Almu moment, because you likely figured out that you mentioning Horry is contradictory to your hatred for ISOs and spacing philosophies of Rudy. With any understanding of Rudy philosophies and Horry skills, you would know you contradicted your previous hatred for ISOs.

4 yr vets who can't take jabbing. joyous! Oh, I must save my moniker from heypee's *declared* jabs by calling him an IDIOT and full of "****". Nothing comes to mind to me more than what we like to say here in Texas, yeeeee-haaaaaa! you can't even take a "DECLARED" Freaking jab without declaring a 4 Yr Moment.

Lesson #2: Watch for headfakes, if you want to get personal, because I might just be trying to get some personal beliefs out of you.

Yeah "I think my basketball knowledge is far superior to anyone else's on the board"...good grief.

I think we got it now!

You challenging me wasn't the issue. I was challenging you to some BBS jabbing after your overly fierce swing at me, knowing full well you would HATE me mentioning my basketball analysis as a "Lesson". [IMG] And you get all ruffled like some simple-to-predict angry NYer, who just declares people full of **** because they don't have time to play.

Hey I can't help that I've been stereotyped as a bball system guru here, and how it has been blown out of purportion like the way all unique contributors to the board get blown out. Like it is obvious many longtime vets didn't like Popeye coming here with more knowledge. Back off Almu, I'm here to find basketball analysis talk. I like to fill an obvious void here to concentrate on the beauty of systems, and the love for the subtle. And I like to challenge people who "Jack" up divisive bball debates with weak foundations in the damn topic they are arguing. How is that any different than Hangout debates when someone demands more specifics on a given topic?

Oh no! These precious basketball debates have different rules where those who challenge divisive comments cannot ask for better analysis.

I did not come to this BBS to win arguments. I came to cc.net to find people who love to "overanalyze" bball systems. And much of what I found was 4 yr vets like you who actually consider basketball talk to be "Jack"ing up divisive commentary and arguing about their own bball and personal philosophies...can we say "Hangout" forum.

Ever since I came here I've been flabbergasted by people pitting their bball philosophies at each other with little concern for discussing what Rudy is trying to accomplish. Seeking more insightful and indepth discussion and challenging what you consider lame arguments is NOT "thinking my basketball knowledge is so far and above everyone elses on this board".

That comment is what I was seeking out of you. It figures you think that simplistically.

    Oh and....

    Robert Horry?

    Huh?

    Right?
