HEB is seriously good! Great deals, great food overall. I can't shop for food anywhere else but there now.
There's a better HEB called Central Market. Except when the suburbanites come in on Sat & Sun - it sucks those days (overcrowded with clueless yokels).
Haven't been in an HEB or Kroger in a long time, but in the Northeast, there's no comparison to Wegman's. Pretty sure they're at least on par with HEB, based on what my family tells me.
I love Kroger off Shepherd & 11th. So many beautiful women in there, especially after a long work day. Makes the shopping experience a great one.
Srsly? That place is ghetto. Kroger off of I-10/Studemont...da babes, errwhere. BTW Wegmans is freaking awesome. So jealous, wish we could have.
Market Street closely followed by Central Market (aka Fancy HEB) is my favorite so far here in Dallas, but it would be HEB if they had some here.
For me, it really depends on the condition of the stores and the selection within the stores in the area where I'm living. In certain places I've lived, the HEB has been the best bet, other times it's been Kroger. Although, I will admit that when I lived in the Midwest, I loved the Hy-Vee I frequented more than any store we have down here.
HEB Montrose Market or HEB Buffalo Market. They are hybrid central market/normal HEB stores. The best ever. Central Market is too much like whole foods - can't get my junk food there.
