Jeremy gets hit in the head on a regular basis. And as is often the case, it is not called. I remember Yao being beat up in games. Do the refs have a different set of rules for Asian players. I am not Asian, and I think it is obvious. If I were the Rockets, I would send all the films of Lin being beat up to the league office. I do not think this is coincidental. Yao was brutalized with regularity. Jeremy is getting the same treatment.
All I know is, if the Rockets aren't making video of all the hacks, shoves, pushes and whatever else Dwight cops in the post - resulting in no call + the slightest touch fouls that are immediately whistled on Dwight - someone needs to get on it ASAP. It is night and day the difference in officiating against this team.
I understand why they don't give calls to superstars because it would make the game almost unwatchable (see OKC games) but the ones where he gets destroyed on the way to the hoop and they don't even bat an eyelid is ridiculous. Same thing happens with Dwight on the post. Z-bo must have fouled him on nearly every possession tonight and nothing was called
Everybody notices that Jeremy gets mauled constantly and doesn't get calls. Bill and Bull mention it damn near every game. People who aren't even Rockets fans talk about it constantly on /r/nba. This isn't a LOF thing, it legitimately does happen a LOT.
The Tony Allen play was a terrible call, but problem every time? I don't quite see that yet. Jeremy Lin shot more free throws tonight than anyone.
To be fair, yes i notice lin does take some blows. I don't think the league is out to get him though. I think a large part of it is because lin is so free with his body on the court, he hits the ground 10x more than any other player on the rockets, the refs may see it in a way of flopping. there are many times when lin takes a foul or a bump and it seems that he overdoes it a little bit, when he might not be overdoing it at all, thats just how it looks. i've seen a lot of opposing teams call him out for that last season
This is what happens to normal NBA players who aren't getting the super-star foul treatment. It's just more noticeable with Lin, because he drives into contact all the time.
He doesn't get the ref respect superstars do, but I don't think he gets less than the average player. Thing is, his style is to hurl himself at the defense and seek contact. So, he gets fouled a lot. And he doesn't have the ref aura superstars do, that makes guy reluctant to foul them hard.
Calls get missed, sure. But that Allen hit to Lin's head was pretty blatant. I'm surprised the refs missed that and then turned around and called foul+gave Bev a tech for the accidental hit on Conley. Double standard. Bogus.
If anything he needs to learn how to land better when he gets hit. Watching him land makes cringe every time.
Some of the refs must think Lin is either the best flopper or the clumsiest guy in the world to not call some of these fouls. lol
yao didnt get many calls because he was bigger than any bigs in the league and he was strong id be fair to not call some of the fouls or hed be unstoppable lin just doesnt get super star calls he gets just as many calls as other nba players
he does get beat up the same way yao did. but i think it has more to do with both players not fighting back. from opponents' standpoint, if you can beat up and bully a guy knowing he'll never get you back -- then you keep throwing and from the refs' standpoint, if you know there's no chance of escalation then why step in and stop play i'll say this, nobody ever put a hurt on mengke bateer because they knew he would elbow the crap out of them in return
