You know this deal also leaves 2.5 mil from the MLE. Enough to signed Dorsey in a 3 year team option deal starting at about 700K and we could do Deke at 1.8 mil.

Still, moneywise Deke should not press, he can get like 1.3 from the vet min and some of that gets covered by a mutual pool. Better to pay Deke the vet min and donate 1 mil to charity.

I think it's fair. I expected about 2.5-3 million per year. It still leaves enough to sign Dorsey and maybe another big.

I was originally in the 2.5M range per year instead of 3M.

When we started the "what will Landry get" speculation a few months ago, I thought $2.5 mil per year for 2 years was fair. So the offer isn't far off from what I expected.

it all comes down to his health.

people often forget that the reason why he was dropped into the second round was due to his knee problem. He was one of the better players in Big-10 while playing at Purdue. If it wasn't for his knee surgery he was projected to go top 20 or higher.

is 3 mil per year too high? I think it's around the right price.

don't forget if for whatever reason Landry couldn't go back to his former self, he will be an attractive cap relief for some teams as his 3rd year is team option. meaning he only really have 2 years contract set in stone.
Given the situation with 2010-2011, where every team is looking to get under cap.

Me too, but with the team option it is about equaled out. 3 years 9 mil with a team option I would say is about the same risk/reward as 3 years 7.5 mil strait contract or 3 years 6.5 mil with a player option.

In risk/reward it it right between Hayes and Scola's contract, where his value should have been.
