    Thanks again for the input.

We had a long talk tonight about the pros and cons. She wants to drop, and since she is the one who has to do the work I am not going to force her to do it.

Picking up on geeimsobored's point - it does seem kind of weird though. She is going to take all of the IB classes except TOK (theory of knowledge) and not do the EE (extended essay), but she still intends to do the community service stuff. Might as well just get the diploma. But that's me not her. She has done exceptionally well in school without any help from me so far ....

Beenz - I'll pass along your comments and mention Mr. Budd. :)

If she wants to go abroad then it is definitely worth it. I did the IB myself and I would not have been admitted to the UK University I attend without it...

I have no idea in terms of schools in the US...

Once she gets her college degree none of this stuff matters.

Also, this thread is irrelevant without a picture.

    :D

Weird, that's exactly what I had done in high school. I was in the IB program but found myself in a jam over the extended essay, so I dropped the diploma aspect and collected the individual diplomas instead. I don't know if it hurt my college aps (I did go to University of Chicago in the end), and my college wasn't giving credit for IBs anyway. But, I regretted the hell out of it afterward anyway. The TOK class is no big deal -- the only thing I spared myself was the paper, which was something I had to re-address in college anyway. Besides, the work of the paper is nothing compared to the studying I did for the IB tests. I should have sucked it up and stuck with the program (if nothing else, to just not be a wuss). I think the reason I didn't was because I had insufficient support on doing a research paper. If the similarity holds true, you may want to see if the problem is that, since that is addressable. And, like I said, I was later forced to do research papers in college, so I may as well have learned the ropes in highschool.
