yes, it was prompted by the remarks of the iranian "president" and his apologists at reuters, who not only can't call a terrorist by name, can't seem to acknowledge the holocaust took place. as i mentioned above, i didn't anticipate individuals attempting to parse the 6M number one way or another, so perhaps should have rephrased the poll.
"Does anyone remember the Armenians?" The sad fact of the matter is that it has happened since and most likely will happen again, just not at the size of WWII.
i voted no, and here's why. i'm sure i will be flamed for it, but here goes. if you argue that the nazi's didn't kill jews then you're an idiot, but i think the 6m figure is a bit high. it could be 2 or 3m, but i think 6 may be out of reach. i have no proof to argue against it, but i think it has been blown out of context, streched, and misinterpreted like much of history has.
At this rate, in two days on this BBS it will be down to 500,000 killed by the Nazis. History doesn't change. The one telling it does. Yes. How so?
One of your weakest posts ever. Sam, please see my signature. Simply repeating that Iraq is going poorly doesn't make it true, no matter how many journalists are eager to repeat it. I heard a stat yesterday on the radio that 70% of the media is against the war. No wonder the coverage is so tilted towards the negative. Makes you think. By the way, where are you now? Have you found a new job?
there is no way to know how many people were killed. 6 million? 3 million? 10 million? ...no way to know and the #'s dont matter. however many it was, it was ALOT of people. as far as i can see, there really isnt anything to debate. on a related note, im in amsterdam right now and visited the anne frank house earlier today. coffee shops are neat....
And simply saying that the war is going as planned and everything is perfect doesn't make that true either. You're quoting the WHITEHOUSE. Talk about objectivity at its best. When that's the basis of your argument, you're not going to get anywhere in terms of coming off as credible or objective. No wonder your coverage is tilted towards the ridiculously over-positive. As for your statistic, fine you heard a random unsubstantiated statistic from some conservative talk show or news. How could someone even come up with a stat like that. Do they start polling random news outlets and ask, "hey are you for the war." or do they (and I bet they do) just listen to what a newspaper, radio outlet, or tv outlet says and just say that sounds liberal so we'll say they hate the war. Post a link of your poll and if it looks even half credible, i'll be extremely impressed.
Notwithstanding the enormous attention stolen from other attrocities, the whole holocaust situation sucks. Lost in the shuffle were the Communists, gypsies, crippled, homosexuals, and political dissidents that were massacred along with the Jews. Who knows what the real numbers are, yet it seems only to be a Jewish issue....
You revisionist!!! The Nazis stopped when they hit 6 million exactly. That was their pre-war goal, btw.
