To be fair, he did drive tonight. A couple of times, he turned it over. Other times he got fouled but we didn't get the call.
So I guess this is your "theme", go in ever thread summoning the coroner to take away Francis' dead career? McGrady should have retired 2 years ago after his back problems if he listened to people talk.
Steve Francis obviously gets no quickness or lift. I dont know it's because he's out of shape or just a empty shell of himself.
I get the feeling Francis going to be dealt. Maybe for someone like Chucky Atkins who's been out so far this season due to injury.
Was Steve this bad last season? He should not even be on the bench the way he has been playing lately. He is well into the twilight of his career. Brooks needs to get some floor time ASAP.
no, nuggets want chucky, they dont have PG. They only have anthony carter right now. They want to put AI at 2.
Francis got rusty again after several games benched. He is also losing confidence as other players do when their team starting to lose.
Francis is done. His flaws - TO problems, bad decisions with the ball, can't hit the trey with consistency - embody EXACTLY all the flaws of the guard corps as a whole, all wrapped up in one dude!! He's just an energy guy off the bench at this point - maybe a good drive here, a steal there, maybe some chest-thumping, but counting on him for more than that is a pipe dream.
Bingo. The guy's obviously not going to look like Steve Nash after riding the pine most of the season. Aaron Brooks fumbled the ball away on some drives too, does that mean his career is already done?
I went to a game in 2004. Francis was playing guard and he went something like 3-8 shooting. I mean it was atrocious but, he was still out there the entire game playing hard. Yao was just coming around and the Rockets still won the game. My point is that how many games have we seen Rafer go 1-8 or 2-10 or 3-8...you catch my drift right? So why are we banging on Francis after 2 starts?
I'm guessing folks are just tired of crappy play from our guards. Not only do we have to deal with Skip going 1-8 or whatever, now we have to see James, Francis and even Head shoot that bad.
This isn't 2004 and Steve is half the athlete that he used to be. Unfortunately, he isn't half the turnover machine he used to be.
Yes but my point is that we are trashing him after two starts while we have endured how many years of Rafer at the point? Steve was putting up good numbers in NY. Last freaking year!! We need to give him a little more time to play and one or two bad games shouldn't automatically get Steve a benching.
Steve has to play with the confidence and aggressiveness that he has in the past or otherwise he is not a good guard, especially point guard. I think that he has bought into the idea that he is now a "role" player and therefore is deferring to everyone and trying to be a facilitator primarily. Then when he realizing he hasn't done anything, he tries to force something. I think he fears Tmac's angry, while he should fear that his career will be considered over if he doesn't play better. If he will have any success this season, he has to come out looking to shoot, drive and score. The rest of his game comes from that. He will not be taking shots from Tmac and/or Yao, but opening the game up for them to get more easy shots because then opposing defenses will have to pay attention to more than those two.
It sounds like it that Steve doesn't have a habit of staying in shape when he is getting low minutes. I assume that in the rest of his career he stayed in shape by playing 40 minutes a game. This seems pretty easy to believe, and he just needs to develop the habit. The other possibility is that Steve is doing some things to stay in shape, but he isn't rehabbing properly and Adelman is substituting "staying in shape" for "rehabbing". Either way, it sounds like he is being stubborn.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5382327.html Nice to see Steve staying positive and has high hopes in helping this team. You can tell he is really humbled now. Even said himself that his play in toronto and philly was "embarassing". I agree with him though. He just needs more time, and it doesn't necessarily mean starter minutes. Just a steady amount of minutes each game.
