Rofl... great response. I was starting to fear that all of ClutchFans might actually be dumb enough to think that Smush is better than Rafer.

if the rockets signed smush he'd be rafer's understudy not replacement. on getting a free agent backup at pg i'd rather they had a look at steve blake, travis diener, or mo williams over smush.

why would we want smush anyway? he's rafer craptastic when taking and missing wide open shots.

*sigh* You want a shoot first replacement PG that averages less than Rafer, shoots the same % from 3, averages 3 less assists per game, can't handle the ball anywhere near as well as Rafer and worse from the FT line.

But somehow in your warped minds translates into an upgrade for a point guard...

Smush shoots 44% and has taken 720 shots this year. Rafer shoots 38% and has taken 943 shots this year. Smush shoots the same 3 point %, but has taken only 270 3s compared to rafer's ridiculous amount of 482 3s. Smush averages less assists cause kobe takes all the shots.

Smush has that quality where he looks much better than he is by having played for a coach that can actually maximize his stengths and minimize his weaknesses as opposed to some other players who look even worse than they actually might really be from playing in such an uncreative offensive system.

in other words, i'm scared to see what Smush would look like in JVG's system, but i suspect that Rafer would look downright Nashish playing for Phil Jackson.

What Smush better than Rafer: finish around the rim.
What Smush does equally as well as Rafer: shoot.
What Smush can't do as well as Rafer: handle the ball in the half court, defend.
What Smush can't do at all: bring up the ball against pressure, pass, call plays, remember plays, bring laughs when he kisses a ref.

Lamar Odom runs the Laker offense. Smush is only there because you can't play 4-on-5.

I'd rather have Luther Head run the offense full time than Smush Parker.

Please lock any post with 'Smush' and 'fit' in the title. BTW, the Rockets have enough boneheads for one team.

Actually Smush is a better overall shooter.
    They are both poor defenders.

No way Smush is the answer to the rockets problems, but he would be a better fit imo because he takes a ton less shots

With Smush as PG, T-Mac would have to become the primary ball-handler IMO. That is a bad move.

Yes, because Phil Jackson really brought out the Nashish qualities in Derek Fisher, Gary Payton, Tyronne Lue, and Jannero Pargo. In contrast, JVG completely neutralized Bob Sura's game in 04/05. Too bad, Sura could have been a nice contributor for us that year. If only JVG were more creative.

Why don't you actually watch the games before you value players? JVG certainly isn't holding Alston back. And Phil Jackson isn't propping Parker up. They're both just terrible in their own way.

WOW.... I can't believe some people on this board. I have seen Smush play a lot this season and to even compare him to Rafer makes me think you have no basketball IQ. Smush IS NOT the same as Rafer. If he gets in the face of Phil Jackson for benching because he is playing like ****, what do you think he will do to JVG? Rafer has been taken out of games in the 4th a couple thinks this season and I haven't seen much complaining from him. Rafer can actually run this team, Smush can't even take care of the ball. Don't let your hate for Rafer make you look like an idiot now people. Think before you post.....

The title of this thread makes me fear for the sanity of the board.

...Yeah, I don't want Smush Parker anywhere near Houston, are you people listening to yourselves? The man is a proven nutcase, with little to no value to the Rockets. The only value I see is that the man is a decent perimeter shooter, but there's plenty of those in the NBA.

Other then that, I hate what I see from him, Rockets-wise.

-Bad passer. Averages about 2.7 APG on 1.91 TOPG, not very impressive at all for a PG.
-Decent ballhandler but still, definetly not up to par with what we already have in Rafer.
-NO MID-RANGE GAME AT ALL. We're complaning about Rafer not being able to finish layups, but I find it disgusting that the Hotzones for Smush are pretty much ALL BLUE from the free throw line in, cept for the space right around the net.
