This is quite a microcosm of your time on this board. Nothing will change your opinion even when it's a stupid ass opinion.

I guess I'm one of the people who has stayed out of the racial debate taking place in this thread.

    You know why?

    Because I couldn't give a rat's ass.

I came here to discuss sports and sports only. If I wanted to discuss politics, race, etc... I'd enter those threads. This was supposed to be a thread about Jeremy Shockey, to the best of my knowledge.

Oh well. I guess I got sucked in at the end too.

I actually like reading T_J's posts. He is right on the verge of being a caricature with his style, but he is obviously intelligent and well educated. I think he contributes a lot to the board and it is always nice to have a few more conservatives around here to hold back the tide of back slapping liberals. :D Recently I think there have even been one or two outright commies showing up.

That argument would be true if my supporters were black, but they have no reason to "rise to my defense" other than because you are incorrect.

So now you are speaking for them too?

What experience! You are an experienced what? Outright Racism Recognizer? Do you have a degree in that also?

I said that I posted the OJ thread because I had seen the documentary the night before, how is that dodging the true issue? What other racially charged thing have I posted? I humbled myself to the Chinese community when I questioned a phrase, but other than that, what else have I posted Jorge, answer my questions.

Why is it that you can always find little tidbits to support your arguments, but now none seem to be available?

When I am on stage, it's usually in front of hundreds of white people, a great majority of the time I am the only black person in the room. I acknowledge the fact that I am different than the room. Racism is hating another race, not acknowledging that they exist.

The difference between you and I is that of the thousands of Chinese people that heard the joke, if ONE had come to me and said that joke was offensive, I would never use it again. That's admitting you're wrong, which is something you can't comprehend. If a Chinese guy does a joke about black people and loud radios is that racist?

Finally, do you realize how utterly rude it is to call me racist? I have had my entire existence threatened many times because of my skin color and yet I hold responsible no group, only individuals that just don't get it.

    You lose Jorge... again.

AB, if you really make fun of the way Asians talk, then you and I have a problem. I've given you the benefit of the doubt, but if this is true, I'm very disappointed. Oh well, I guess it's the same as making fun of the way white people talk.

I think you guys need to get off of AB's case. If you have a problem with him, his moniker, his stand up act or anything else, then refrain from reading his threads or posts. This is getting ridiculous.

Apologies to drapg for not talking sports, but I have one extra thought on this subject of race and threads.

Let's take the point of view, for a moment, just for the sake of argument, that a given poster is interested in racial issues. Let's say that the poster even posts provocative posts relating to race in America, in a respectful and sensible format. ... Um, so?

    1) Race IS an issue in the US. A new study of the death penalty in Maryland just revealed that blacks are twice as likely to be put to death in that state as whites for the same classification of crime. The most likely murder convict to be put to death in Maryland: a black person who has murdered a white person. These stats were significant -- beyond the error bars. I will find a link if anyone's interested.

    2) Even if you deny point #1, having interests, even in controversial topics, is known in some circles as having a freaking personality.

#1 above is among the reasons (and is likely evidence of the strongest reason) i can not support the death penalty.

Same here. If we can get around to killing more rich white guys, I'll reconsider.

While I acknowledge that Trader_J is not an uneducated person, I think he is acting like a total ******* by attacking someone all the time and then not responding to the response. He does it on purpose, too.

Another Brother, you should not even have to "defend" yourself at all, and in fact, I think you should not do it - because if anyone has to defend himself for being aggressive in this thread, it is Trader_Jorge. I disagree with some of your views, AB (I think they are not only wrong, but screwed up, possibly because of experiences you have made, but from my point of view, some seem screwed up), and I do think that race is definitely a sensitive issue for you (probably for understandable reasons), but that is a long, long, long shot from making you a racist. And calling you a racist is a total insult that is completely uncalled for. I went through Trader_Jorge's 8 questions and EVEN IF one answered these questions the way he implies, that does not make AB a racist in any way.

I actually enjoy reading some of Trader_Jorge's posts on several topics because they provide a different view in a legibly written manner, but this vendetta against AB is borderline ridiculous.

And one more thing, I sure hope this does not decrease AB's posts per day, because I enjoy reading them and they often make me laugh. In the category "sense of humor", AB is to Trader_Jorge what Michael Jordan is to Sam Bowie in terms of having a successful basketball career.

One last thing, to gr8-1: I am half Asian and I once had a Chinese guy in a legal seminar who was trying to present his paper in German. I'm sorry, call me and everyone else there a racist, but I and everyone else in that class was pinching themselves under the table to not burst out in laughter, it just sounded so damn funny. I later mimicked that when I told my mother (who is Asian) about it and she was laughing, too. Why should one not make fun of the way people talk, as long as one does not do it to offend individual people...I think these things are funny. But equal rights, then...make fun of ebonics (as I have seen AB do it here!) just as you make fun of funny-sounding Asian accents. Oh, by the way, my girlfriend in Houston kept making fun of me for my German accent...now that I think about it, forget what I just said .

Anyway...long rant, but the main thing I wanted to say is that I enjoy AB's posts and he is not a racist. Most of B-Bob's and AB's posts make my day a bit better! :)

No apologies needed B-Bob or AB, especially since I've been sucked in now.

From my experience most comedians are given a free pass when it comes to jokes and racism. Just watch a Chris Rock or Margaret Cho comedy special. Lots of comedians have made fun of their own race as well as other races. Hell, I've seen several comedians make fun of my race, and I take it in good natured fun and laugh along. I want to say that its true of comedians of all color, but truthfully, I can't think of any non-minority examples. Nevertheless, I don't think you can use someone's comedy act as a judgement of their beliefs and values.

I don't know what's been said in previous threads because they got way to long for me to peruse. (No jokes like "What else do you have to do?" please. ;) ) Therefore I can't go on past discussions. If that is a main issue in this off-tangent discussion, (and it seems as if it may be), than you can disregard my post. However, if a person's material is used as an "exhibit" in building a case towards a past history of causing message board "race riots" than, in my opinion, it should be disregarded.

I've said my peace, and hopefully in a way not to upset/offend anyone.

After reading my post, I would like to say that I think some of AB's views SEEM screwed up to me, but that is not saying much since I cannot really talk about these things, not being American :D.

But seriously, "screwed up" was probably the wrong wording and I am sorry if that came across the wrong way. I just seem to have a different perception of some things because of not having had to make the same experiences, that's all.

Maybe it's the fact that he's a racist, too. You know, the whole takes one to know one thing.

He did say he saw nothing wrong with what Trent Lott said.

Screwed up is OK, just as long as I'm not a racist.

    It's all good.

...even though some of your views are screwED up! :D

RM- You make a very valid point, but I am over it. Searching out the threads I've started was the final nail in the coffin.

    thanks:)

I don't know what you are thinking AB...

A thread on the Dell guy? Admit it. You were trying to start a racial discussion about the "perceived" differences in opportunities between young white guys and young black guys re: the technology sector. Furthermore, your thread on Matt Maloney was only intended to inflame racial discord given the common "white men can't jump" mentality. ;)
