In Texas there's a saying, if the glove don't fit... you can fool me once... you're either with us or you're guilty. Ah, forget it. :)

I was happy. I suppose that makes me a racist huh?

But I won't go any further into this because I've read past threads and know how race related topics can get. Hope that didn't open a can of worms.

No. And, even if AB was happy with the verdict because he and OJ were black doesn't make him a racist. Misguided, maybe. But racist, no.

    Why were you happy though?

I dunno, why were you happy? Personally I thought he was absolutely guilty but I sensed that he would get off because after I watched a bunch of the trial, Barry Sheck (sp?) especially, they actually had me believing the cops were dirty and that they fouled up the investigation. The prosecution got out-lawyered IMHO.

I respect you guys opinions but I'll gracefully decline to answer. I don't want to take this thread into the abyss.

I'll admit, I'm usually quick to point out when I think someone is being racially biased or when someone is trying to start a race riot on here. Needless to say, there are plenty of people on here that do that.

However, I dont think AB is one of them.

As Charles Barkely says...I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

Taking these facts at face value (which I'm reluctant to do), we know the following:
    1) AB believes OJ was not completely innocent, but thinks the jury did the right thing. He had previously stated that innocent is basically equivalent to not guilty. Not guilty was the jury's decision. Therefore, AB believes that OJ was at least partially innocent. Keep trying Major.

No one here can question the facts which I laid out in my last post. Nothing has been presented in AB's defense except emotional appeals. No facts. No one has attempted to answer my evidence of his outright racism either. My assertion stands unchallenged.

Should someone like to step up to the plate and explain why a non-racist poster would post the following, be my guest. I challenge you to be objective and exclude personal attacks, insults, emotional appeals, and to suppress all inclinations due to personal friendships/past amusement so that you can objectively evaluate this situation. Any argument on emotional grounds is baseless and not worthy of consideration. Answer the following:

    1) Is race central to AB's identity?
    2) Do people become offended when their opinion of their identity is challenged?
    3) What does it mean when a poster chooses a moniker with racial meaning (Another Brother)?
    4) Why would someone defend Warren Sapp's actions? (intentionally crippling another player, dancing over the crippled player, cursing out a head coach, threatening a head coach)
    5) Why would someone start a thread about OJ Simpson, a situation that occurred almost 10 years ago?
    6) Why would someone defend OJ Simpson's innocence?
    7) Why would someone start a thread about Jeremy Shockey, and in that thread's title, use the exact same wording that was used in the Warren Sapp thread?
    8) Why would someone repeatedly bring up racial issues?

No name calling, no insults, no passionate appeals, no emoticons, *just answer the questions*.

TJ...I have to defend AB a little here...

I also defended Sapp's actions...as did many NFL players and broadcasters...they all said the same thing...they said that when there was an interception, they always (especially the QB's) had their heads on a swivel because they knew a monster hit could come from anywhere, even if it was away from the play

Well, he was found innocent. I certainly disagreed with the verdict, but the fact remains, he was found innocent

because what Jeremy Shockey did was pretty classless. Whether it was flipping the bird on national TV (not that big of a deal IMO) or throwing ice into the stands because he was being needled by the 49er fans. Bottom line, Shockey acted like an ass..and I think most Giant fans would agree...all he did was talk smack all season, make gestures after catches all season ...then when something isn't going his way, he acts like a 4 year old.

Those are my opinions and I'm white. As for the other issues, I think AB could answer you better.

He was found not guilty. Huge difference in terms of burden of proof.

These questions need to be answered collectively. It establishes a pattern of behavior. Singling out quesitons to answer side-steps the issue of a pattern of behavior.

Not in my mind. When I think of Another Brother, I think of comedian. Just like when I think of Manny Ramirez I think of music, TheFreak-hair bands, Timing-movie fan, etc. I bet most people on here think of Another Brother far and away in terms of his occupation, not race. Him too.

I guess I can't answer this question since I don't think Another Brother only uses his race as an identifier.

Jorge, isn't that a Hispanic name?

Many on this board defended Sapp's actions. I know for a fact Major did because I was with him when it happened. Do you know what race Major is? I'm sure you know that Sean Salisbury's (sp?) is white, right? He was highly defensive of Sapp's actions and critical of Sherman's response.

People talk about O.J. all the time. Ever listen to Jim Rome? A big deal was made just last week about him visiting USC's practice before the Orange Bowl.

Again, he said he thinks he probably had something to do with it. Many people think that O.J. did it, but agreed with the verdict because they don't feel the prosecution didn't prove their case. My mom, who watched nearly every single second of that trial (God help her) is one of them.

A lot of people, myself included, have been wondering why Shockey's behavior is referred to as "refreshing" but Owens, who hasn't slurred a group of people (I don't think) is referred to as a punk. Of course, you ignore the fact that Another Brother called Owens an embarassment as well.

Because a lot of people still believe that racial issues exist. Many believe that talking about it rather than sticking your head in the sand is a better way of going about thing. Honestly, I think both ways have merits, but not knowing Another Brother's past, I won't comment about it...even though I haven't really noticed it with him as much as some others.

FWIW, T_J, I think you're an obviously very smart guy. I enjoyed reading the debate about Bush's tax plan yesterday, mainly because you managed to make it through most of your replies without an unnecessary shot at your opponent. Not everything as to be a personal conflict between you and anyone else. I know you don't give a **** about what I say and I should just learn to ignore you, but I just thought I'd let you know.

I have to wonder why Shockey's bird-flipping incident has not gotten more press. Remember when Bryan Cox did the same thing to Buffalo fans as a member of the Dolphins? The guy caught a lot of hell for it, and I think he was fined by the league (don't quote me, because I'm not 100% sure).

Shockey has received very little pub about it. This leads me to believe one of two things:

    1. Either subconsciously or consciously, race is an issue in the matter of how athletes are portrayed in the media and how they are accepted within the fabric of the sports world.

    2. The flipping of the bird occurs regularly and fans really don't know about it. Cox was fined for directing his one fingered salute to the fans, rather than another player.

Either way, its dumb, dumb, dumb.

I think of the three platers being discussed TO is the biggest punk (Sharpie incident, Dallas Star incident, both on other teams field), Shockey is kind of embarrassing (mostly just constant talking and celebrating, never really did anything that I saw to rival either of the incident I mentioned for TO), and Sapp is the least embarrassing (made a perfectly legal hit that wouldn't be discussed if the guy didn't get hurt).

You don't think flipping off the crowd is worse than what TO has done? How about talking **** about homosexuals?

Well, still worse than anything TO's done, IMO.
