Is Ryan Bowen really the worst rotation player in the NBA?

I know I've said it too many times. Preferring Bowen over Padgett was JVG's worse personnel decision so far.

The problem with Bowen is that he does nothing well. He doesn't play good defense (though he tries hard!), his offense is beyond execrable, and he doesn't rebound all that well. He's pointless.

He's the kind of guy you want for about 5 minutes per game. Your guys are going through a lull, but they're really talented and really just need to wake up? Great! Put Bowen in. Want to keep up the intensity at the end of a blow-out? Great! Put Bown in.

The only other concievable point at which Bowen is a useful (not good, but rather not terrible) player is when the other team's key scorer is a not-exceptionally athletic SF or PF. That was true against Dallas.

Bowen is nearly worthless. The fact that he gets meaningful minutes is an indictment of (a) our GM, (b) our coach, or (at least) (c) our physical therapists ;).

Did he say that? I don't know. I thought the Rockets decided to sign Bowen and therefore did not pursue resigning Padgett.

He said he got an offer from the Suns and it was an opportunity he couldn't pass up.

He was a free agent. Of course he was entertaining offers. My gripe is, did the Rockets even try to resign him? My understanding is that they decided to give the spot to Bowen.
