Rybo is the worst one on one player in the whole league for sure.

Last year, when Bowen had a chance to actually do the job he signed up for, nobody here thought he sucked. He was the 13th man, an energy player, walking chaos on defense that got us possessions when the other team wasn't on their toes. Nobody b****ed about his performance in the playoffs, either.

Now that he's been forced into playing more than 2 minutes per game, his limitations really show. What can you do? It wasn't supposed to go this way this year, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I just can't speak ill of Ryan Bowen. There are a lot of players in the league who don't contribute anything on the court or even make the rotation that are FAR more talented than he is. If I'm going to talk about somebody sucking, I prefer it to be somebody who has a choice in the matter. Not somebody who works as hard as anyone in the NBA but just doesn't have the talent.

Incidentally, I'm willing to give 5-1 odds to anyone willing to bet me that Ryan Bowen doesn't eventually end up on an NBA coaching staff.

his hustle and defense just shows us that u also need offense to win ball games. i know jvg loves defense, but if you can't put the ball in the basket, you wont win. unless of course u block every shot the other team attempts. but honestly phoenix's is one extreme. our walking up and lettin the other team set the defense style is the other extreme. if we can play some sort of an up tempo game which doesnt compromise defense significantly.

Mark Madsen - one time I saw him catch the ball when there was no one within 10 feet of him. He started spinning around in circles looking for someone to pass to. When he couldn't find anyone, he threw the ball out of bounds on the sideline. Bowen isn't very talented, but he tends to stay within his abilities most of the time, and he is disruptive on defense.

yeah madsen is pretty heinous - but I used guys who had played 20% or so of their teams available minutes as an arbitrary cutoff and he clocks in just under that number (17% I think).

Plus he replaces Eddie Griffin, so there's not a big dropoff in production when he's on the court .... sad but true.

Funny Araujo was mentioned. When "worst" and "player in the NBA" were seen, he immediately came to mind.

Due to their young core centered around CB4, along with hearing about their early season offensive fireworks, and their two new draft picks, and the Mike James angle, have watched as many TOR games this year as time has allowed. Aside from Charlie V's impressive all around game, CB4's continuing ascension to stardom, Calderon's solid PG play, and Bonner's ridiculous South Park inspired nickname, what really struck me was how badly Araujo sucked. This guy is garbage. On top of that, his on court demeanor is a forced nonchalant one, as if trying to feign that he belongs, probably hoping that no one will see through his fake confidence and realize how utterly inept and out of place he is. On top of that, he was a #8 overall pick. Man what a bust. Plus his tattoos look dumb.

In contrast, whatever deficiencies Rybo's stats may show, he knows his role and makes no pretense about it. Workmanlike, no nonsense, you know what you're getting with this guy, however little it might be reflected in individual stats.

Worst player is Araujo, hands down.

For fun, google "araujo sucks" (with quotes) - several pages of hits. "Ryan bowen sucks" (again with quotes) not even a full page.

Rybo is the worse? I am sure if we don't sign him, somebody will pick him up. JVG once said Rybo is the kind of player every coach would like to have. Pat Riley said Rybo is the most hardworking player in NBA. I wish Tmac can play like him with all the Tmac skill ... :D :D :D

Its a nice player for the 12th man on the team, but not for a starter player.

    That's a great story :D

I love Bowen, but I love him the most when he's playing under 10min a game.

if we had a talented team, especially on offense Bowen could be of some help as a 9/10th player occasionally seeing 10 mins as a stopper and to create a little buzz, but really with the team we have even without injuries he is close to useless as teams can just double without fear of punishment he is on the floor along with most of our poorly shooting players

The bottom line is Rybo is a SCRUB! We all know that and every average basketball fan knows that as well. HOWEVER, we are without Tmac and Yao currently. Scrubs are effective when they play with stars and when the star(s) are out they look even more like Scrubs which is the reason why this thread was probably started.

It's simple. I play a lot of rec ball and (I know the NBA is no rec ball but similar scenario) ,granted I'm no scrub (personal feeling :D ) when I play with other players that aren't very good I also tend to play not as well. When I play with other players that are good or stars on the court they make me look good as well. It's as simple as that. T-mac/ Yao let Rybo pass as a decent backup PF.

Ex) Steve Nash makes Raja Bell look like an all star and Atlana wish they'd never traded Boris Diaw.

When your playing on a team that's led by Juwon Howard its difficult to look good and that's no knock on J HO. Just saying...

Bown isn't the worst rotation player in the NBA, he's the worst STARTER in the NBA, by far. I cringe everytime I see Bowen's face in the starting lineup, I just don't believe it.

I understand how shorthanded we are, so we have to cut them some slack. But I remember reading the box score the other day and seeing that Bowen had 0 points 1 rebound 1 foul. I think that pretty much sums him up.

Also, Bowen isn't even that great of a defender. If you watch him play defense, he runs straight pass the guy 80% of the time and "hustles" to get back in front.

This guy has started 30 games. 30!!!

I would guess that "Hoffa's" being picked #8 and their GM not wanting to completely admit defeat probably has alot to do with why "Hoffa" has started so many games. They're letting him play his way out of the league, is all I can think of. Aaron Willams is a scrub, but he should still be starting over "Hoffa."

    (Bowen has started 19 games.)

I agree ,it's hard to make that judgement without having seen every player in
the league....but he is the worst player in our team!...hands down!!!

Hustle?..Hustle was a dance in the 70's!..if all I did at work was constantly hustle without showing any production it wouldn't be long before I was hustling on the unemployment line!

Personally I think Rybo has some pictures of JVG in a pickle...
or JVG simply has a man-crush on him either way Rybo is "Living the Vida Loca"
at the expense of a real pro-league basketball player.

Astros have a utility infielder who come in at game end to relieve Everett because coach had Bagwell PH for him. That backup infielder who can turn a double play but can't hit is Rybo. Player # 23-25.

Football teams have special teams guys who are a little slow/small/skills deficient to make the starting lineup on either offense/defense. Rybo. End of the bench but still one of the top 1000 football players in the USA.

Rybo is still one of the top 450 basketball players in the USA, but that doesn't make him one of the top 50....or 100, or 200.

It just really shows up due to the number of minutes he has been asked to play.

JVG made a decision to give a roster spot to Rybo, not knowing that our shooting deficiencies would be so terribly exposed, and Padgett would be so sorely missed this year.

Ya roles tha dice and ya takes yer chances.
