They don't have a chance. It should be very obvious to everyone right now why Durant skipped town on OKC and went to play for a team. Think about this. What superstar player is watching Westbrook and desiring to team up with him? Name them. Now think about this. How is OKC going to acquire a youngster that will blossom as a young star/superstar next to Westbrook? Can't happen. He's got them stuck in the late middle of the first round and he'll choke any developmental opportunity for any youngsters with star potential with his ball domination. OKC is screwed as long as Westbrook is on their roster.
Westbrook is actually being looked at as a sympathetic figure by the media after that 4th quarter, and some of them actually believe that these losses have epitomized why he should be the MVP. The narrative is that he just doesn't have any help. That catastrophic 4th quarter where his chucking/bricking was of epic proportions was due to his frustration over his lack of help. Westbrook is teflon this season.
People are also ignoring how terrible Westbrook's defense has been as he continues to try to stat pad instead of closing out on shooters. He's making Patrick Beverley look like Stephen Curry.
Lol. Not only that, but that means they will have to trade for one. But they will cripple their team doing that (and likely for a Carmelo type of 'star') because after all, Westbrook is playing with garbage, right? Westbrook isn't making these guys look better, he's diminishing their value. But like I said, I could see a trade for a star like Carmelo. I think that works for the Knicks, they get rid of Melo and could get some pretty good players in return (Despite the narrative, Kanter, Dipo, Adams, are good players.) but I think any trade they make for a 'star' player, even the likes of Melo, they are overpaying. They certainly don't have the assets for a Butler, Paul George, kind of deal. Then you have to factor in chemistry, like Melo and Westbrook would be hilarious to watch. In the 4th quarter no one else is taking shots but those two...
I think that Melo would rather continue to lose in NY than win but have to live in a place like Oklahoma. The only small market/undesirable city I could see Melo agreeing to waive his NTC to go to is Cleveland.
Yep, another poor chemistry fit for them because Rubio needs the ball to be effective. IT'll be just like Ty Lawson, the idea would be that he'd play when Westbrook isn't on the court...but when is that? When Westbrook is on the court Is Rubio expected to hit shots? What superstar player actually works with this guy? Rubio is just a role player too, what players work with this guy and how he plays?
What a terrible talk show format. Clearly, you take one side and I'll take the other, and let's give fans fuel on how to argue with each other. I'm annoyed you'd even post that to help them get clicks. It's a channel surfing, click bait talk show format of absurdity that ppl can't help but check on occasion to see what Skip has to say. Ugh
Through 2 games, Russell Westbrook has scored 1 more point than James Harden while shooting 21 additional FGAs from reddit
