I think Rockets will give him some game time initially to get a feeling of where he is at initially.

He should be ok on offense. He will basically be setting picks for Harden/Lin/Parsons/Delfino and rolling for dunks/layups or freeing himself up when the other players drive for dunks/layups. It will take him some time to know what spots to pass to once he is met with rotating defense and his path to basket is cut off. He is a high turnover guy at this moment, and I am afraid his unfamiliarity with the offense will compound the problem initially.

He will probably be lost of defense. Good news for him is that most of the Rockets other than Asik are usually lost on defense. As long as he does not go Stromboli Swift on the Rockets, they will try to bear with him.

If after giving him minutes for a few games, Rockets think that he is not ready to contribute and is going to hurt their chances for making the playoffs, they will cut into his minutes and be careful with him.

McHale will play T-Rob whenever he can contribute to winning. It would surprise me if he got any appreciable floor time this year. But hopefully T-Rob will come in and contribute soon on defense. When that happens PT will follow.

But for now D-Mo looks like he is ready to play. Which is a good thing. I feel sure that D-Mo's improvement factored into Morey's equations when trading PPat and MM.

On the positive side, the small ball lineup that is currently starting has been the most effective lineup this year.

Robinson is in the mix with T Jones for those 10 mins of playing time.
Motiejunas has earned the time and played well with that time. Delfino clearly is the best 3 pt shooter on the team and spreads the floor.

Me too. If he does work hard when he arrives, McHale may give him minutes.
McHale may also reward him, ala D-Mo if he goes to the D-League.

i will preface this with the fact that i haven't been able to watch many rockets games this year.

but, i would worry about spacing if he and Asik were on the floor together. The strength of a Lin/Harden backcourt is their ability to get to the rim. If you have two bigs who can't hit jumpers (trob's mid-range game isn't quite there yet) then there's more congestion at the rim ("no *****, right?). Of course, that's why we've been running stretch 4's out there and made Patterson develop a 3 point shot.

so i see him as eventually, over several weeks of "free trob" threads, taking Greg Smith's role of backing up Asik. providing rebounding, put backs, picks with a roll to the hoop and an alley oop pass to finish... and energy. It looks to me that he has the ballhandling skills to grab a defensive rebound and start the fast break (what we were hoping royce would do for us). If that's the case, he's perfect off the bench for our run and gun team. The defense will hopefully come as the season progresses. As for next season, who knows what the roster will look like ? but i can't see him starting next to Asik without a solid mid-range game to keep his defender honest and out of harden/lin's way.

I don't know if I like the idea of Carlos starting. We need some balance coming off of the bench.

I think Garcia and Delfino would be a nice scoring boost during the time our starters rest.

Most of you have NO idea what Cisco is capable of. The guy is a great shooter, great slasher and hard worker.

If you read interview about his personality, he is a bit of a hot head. We need some guys that play with more emotion...we've had the deficit since Ron Ron left.

Most will argue that he was just a throw-in to the trade, but I'm pretty confident Morey chose him over some of Sac's other pieces.

I'm looking forward to him playing for us.

    Our rotation will eventually be:

    PG - Lin, Beverley
    SG - Harden
    SF - Parsons, Garcia
    PF - Delfino, Motiejunas
    C - Asik, Smith

In other words, like yesterday, except we eventually replace Anderson with the more experienced Garcia. I don't see Robinson breaking in to the rotation unless Greg Smith or Motiejunas slump badly and Robinson steps in and is productive.

Robinson's D can't be worse than Motiejunas's. Besides, we badly need the rebounding. I'd like to see him eventually break the PF rotation.

    Ideally:

    PG - Lin / Beverley
    SG - Harden / Garcia
    SF - Parsons / Delfino
    PF - Motiejunas / Robinson
    C - Asik / Smith

I think DMo should start instead of Delfino. Delfino is better off the bench.

We need another body to get some board. W/o Asik, no one can grab any board.

If Robinson is the all hustle rebound guy he's said to be then he's going to see the floor very quickly with McHale.

It's pretty much why Parsons and Beverly have seen the floor when they did.

I agree 100%. McHale has shown in the past that he will play a rookie if that player is ready. Some players pick things up faster than others. TRob was getting limited minutes for a bad team in Sacramento, don't expect him to come in and be a major contributor anytime soon. He's a raw 21 year old rookie, let's be realistic.

Furthermore, we have guys like D-Mo and TJones that have been practicing with the team since last summer, it makes sense to use them right now. Also, the Rockets are winning right now with Delfino taking on a larger role, let's not rock the boat too much if we don't have to.

McHale said he is looking forward to getting TRob, and said for the short term he is just looking for him to run the floor, rebound and play defense, so I think McHale will play him when he thinks he can contribute.

    Right now our rotation is
    Lin/Beverley
    Harden/Anderson
    Parsons/Anderson
    Delfino/Motiejunas
    Asik/Smith

I think that Robinson's best shot to take rotation minutes is to take Greg Smith's minutes. Motie's minutes at back up pf are likely a lock because Mchale thinks he's earned them now.

Actually it looks like he is relatively solid on the defense, besides that stupid facial he took because he took that fake. Rebounding right now to me is a bigger question mark.

What were his summer league stats? They don't mean a lot, but just curious.

Agreed. Do you think we should start him or bring him up after Delfino?

    MPG

    FG%

FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
    29.6 0.344 0.538 1.8 8.0 9.8 3.0 1.0 0.2 4.8 4.6 13.0

His FG% was ****...but from what I read about him, during summer league he drifted away from the paint instead of playing deep in the paint which could account for his summer league stats...
