Agreed. I don't want him to turn into a perimeter shooter. Just pointed out the fact the guy has range, unlike Amare.

But insiders say that when he practices, he shoots the three with great accuracy. So maybe he'll throw one up later.

i dont ever want to see yao shoot a 3 unless its a last second shot with no better alternative. taking the tallest player out from under the basket for possible rebounds is just bad bball.

Actually, I'd like to see Yao take some outside shots, just like what Divac and Sabonic have been doing. I thought the Rockets has put too much emphasize on Yao's inside playing, his effectiveness was reduced considerably.

I'm not saying to take the outside shot every time he touches the ball, but I just don't recall he took any of them when he got the ball at the FT line. He needs to mix it up, so the defense will have to honor it.

Great post Jeff!!! BTW, when you wrote "They LOVE the hard workers and the shooters more than the highlight reels because, unlike today, human highlight films from the past like Dominique Wilkins, Mychael Thompson, George Gervin, Dr. J, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan were more than just high-flyers.", were you referring to MYCHAL THOMPSON?? The guy that played college at Minnesota and played briefly on the Lakers?

If so, that was the first and the last time I heard that name in the same sentence as Dr J, Magic and Jordan. They guy was mostly an above average 3rd option for most of his career.

Just a guess, but he was probably referring to David Thompson.
