He is exactly the type of player we need. An excellent defensive player and perfectly capable 3rd option offensively.
Definitely true. And of course no one ever wants to lose a job. Especially a well paying one. Just a gain a matter of "what then?"... Danillio Gallinari, lol??
It's Melo and CP3. I think that's the plan. He has a no trade clause and we have a relationship with them since we recruited him
http://nypost.com/2017/05/09/mike-dantoni-comes-clean-i-quit-because-of-carmelo/ HEADLINE: Mike D’Antoni comes clean: I quit because of Carmelo Besides the hilarity of MDA teaming up with Melo again... CP3, Harden, Melo seems as crazily bad a combo of 3 players as possible. To that end, it'd at least be entertaining to watch and chuckle as they fumble their way - probably somewhat successfully - through a regular season and are confused as heck in the playoffs.
I recently have started to despise stretch 4s. They all seem to play like crap in the playoffs with the exception of Green. Ryan Anderson, Millsap and Love sucked ass in the playoffs this year.
if we can't get Paul Millsap, i'm sticking with my idea of trading for Kenneth Faried so long as we upgrade the SF spot and move Ariza to the bench.
Called it, no one is going to max him, certainly not Atlanta, a max for Millsap would be ridicuolus. I don't even think the Kings can be so dumb. On a side note, Millsap is 32, but Melo and Paul, while they have basically the same age, they have also way more games/minutes on their shoulders, and injuries. Millsap is a very solid dude, and he didn't play that much in his career, he came in the nba late and he was a bench player for years in Utah, i don't expect him to decline anytime soon, i think he can easily play at his best for another 3 years. I kinda feel the same lol, but i'd still give a pass to Millsap because: 1. he actually is a good defender (and he's a threat in the paint) 2. he can play at center in a small lineup (and that's actually when the Hawks played better in the playoffs) 3. the Hawks were just not that good, and he probably ended up trying to do too much...i mean, he's good, but he can't carry a team by himself
Just an observation, but I think Green is unique in that his value to GS isn't really based on his 3pt shooting. He only shot 31% this year, and while his hot shooting last year might have effected GS's spacing somewhat (teams still rotate off him rather than leave the other guys open), it wasn't enough to be a real difference maker. Rather, his value comes from his ferocious defense, reliable rebounding and his playmaking. If his range only extended to 20 ft, I imagine he'd still be just as effective.
