What the hell is wrong with you people Riley had little to do with this. LeChoke, Wade, and Piggy-Back wanted this since the Olympics. Riley benefits from his location. That is the only reason people want to sign. The women, food, and scenery are all Delicious.

Riley was the only one that had the balls to destroy his team for the ability to pay 3 close to max contracts.

Knicks could have easily used Gallinari or Chandler to get rid of Curry and then they would be the ones with all the cap space.

We could have been talking about wade-bosh-james in NYC, but the Knicks were not confident enough in their ability to get these guys.

Riley was, he had the vision and he got it done at all cost.

This was all DWade's doing. Riley was just there to facilitate it by chopping the roster up to make room under the cap.

It;s really easy to GAMBLE when you know what will happen!

WAKE UP! do you think someone would demolish their team without out knowledge of future events? This whole week process was a cleverly orchestrated theater. Why do you think They were all followed by cameras?

This is what I was thinking...what a perfect time to start coaching again. He'd be pulling a Phil Jackson.

He would be pulling a "Pat Riley" you don't remember when he took the job from StanVan to win the title with Wade and Shaq.

Or do you mean he would be pulling a Phil Jackson rings wise?

seriously you must be dumb as bricks if you think lebron and chris bosh going to the heat had anything to do with Pat Riley. It could be isiah thomas and the lebron/bosh signings would still go through

Yeah because he basically knew he was guaranteed one of them back (Wade). Riley is lucky. New York could not have risked blowing up their whole team because they were guaranteed nothing.

There is no way Riley would have gutted his team the way he did (down to two players??) had he not known he was going to get all three of these guys. He had to get rid of solid contributors for the ability to get these players together as they wanted. I applaud him for doing that. It seems to be what everyone wanted. But it's going to be a different story getting the rest of the league to accept minimum contracts on the verge of a lockout to play with them. This could backfire vey easily.

    I actually disagree.

I'm certain Riley knew. I am absolutely certain Riley knew of the plan of those three, to team up in the beginning, and that this whole damn thing was a farce. He did absolutely nothing a second grader couldn't have done, just threw out every single guy in preparation for 2010, where the plans of these guys would finally take effect.

That's all there was to it. Riley himself did nothing amazing at all. Wade did, and the city of Miami did.

I guess you could say both...Phil seems to find a way to go to the team with a lot of talent..at least with his Lakers stent, the bulls were kind of given to him.
