This is nothing! I remember a time when things were so bad, you could get a free ticket to Rockets games simply by buying and bringing an empty Rainbow bread bag to the Summit. I remember when things were so bad in the early days at Hofheinz Pavilion there were 200 people in the stands. I remember when they used the number one pick in the draft for John Lucas who cocained himself (and very nearly the Rockets franshise) out of the league. I remember when they traded Houston homeboy Elvin Hayes to the Washington Bullets only to watch him win an NBA championship. I remember when they basically let Moses (4-5-4) Malone walk away to Philly thereby finally giving Dr. J (Julius Erving) his only championship. I remember when Mitchell Wiggins and Lewis Lloyd also did the cocaine crash and burn thereby destroying the Rockets' season and setting this franchise back years. Finally, I remember that Christmas season when all Rockets' fans prayed for Rudy T's life after Kermit Washington almost killed him on the court in Los Angeles.

So, as you all can see, a 10-19 record, while serious, does not qualify as the "worst" of times for a Rockets fan.

There's never the best or worst time to be a bandwagoner.

You're just there. It doesn't hit you as hard.

I guess some people just need 2/5 a season to fall off.

It is always hard to be a Houston sports fan, the spirit of "Sports Stupid" lives here. It gets on anything connected to sports in this city. Does anyone need a list of examples? I didn't think so. I would not be surprised if Casserly trades the first pick for three young Bucanons who are never heard of again. The worst of times for the Rockets? Naw, this is a minor league sports depression. How about thirteen years ago at this time?

Man those were some rough years after the Malone trade - and yet my betamax kept recording every game.

I actually thought last season at this time was pretty much rock bottom. That team was healthy (sans Sura) and still sucking.

When we're throwing out an 80% squad this season, we're doing quite well. If we ever get back to 100%, we're an elite team again.

At least we've got that to fall back on.

    :(

Remember when David Robinson went down and only played like 9 games in the '97-'98 season? The Spurs got Tim Duncan in that draft. Obviously the Spurs would have been a very good team with Robinson, but without him they were terrible.

I'm not saying we should tank and I'm confident we'll still make the playoffs. I'm just saying you can't expect teams to play well without their stars, much less without most of their starting lineup.

Yeah, I'd have to go with the year before we got Ralph. That was BRUTAL.

The Sleepy Floyd/ Joe Barry Carroll era was uninspiring.

And certainly the John Lucas, Mith Wiggins, Lew Loyd drug use, suspension, backcourt destruction, followed by Ralph Sampson trying to come back from injury too soon and slowly having his knee disiningrate, as he went from best young center in the game to physically unable to play. That was much worse than this years temporary slide due to in

That Spurs team is the first thing that popped in my head when this season started off slowly.

If it all goes in the tank we may end up in an awesome situation like the Spurs.

Still not giving up on this season, think we can get into the playoffs and make some noise with a fully stocked team.

All bandwagoner.....these are the times that seperate the real fans from the fake fans.

Times like this is what make the payoff so much sweeter...

This is hardly the worst time to be a Rockets Fan. We will be ok, We still might make the playoffs, and who knows from there what might happen. Our Future is bright. When we get healthy everythiing will turn around.

I love my ROXS team no matter what the outcome! I've been a HUGE FAN for over 24 years! I left Houston 10 years ago but not the Rockets!!! ;) :) I also root for the Texans & Astros! Some people don't realize how lucky Houston is to have these franchises! Please don't take them for granted!

    The Francis era represented hopelessness.

There are very few worse things as hopelessness. Hopelessness means that you are defeated before the fight even begins. Hopelessness and mediocrity is what Francis and his crew brought.

I am a stoked Rox fan now. I am so thankful for Mac and Yao (even though I have not completely been very happy with them lately). Mac is a breath of fresh air compared to the Francis era. Dumb basketball is very depressing. Being forced to root for a player that does not "get it" really hurts. These are great times to be a Rox fan - the small glitch we are experiencing now iwll only make this season even sweeter and more memorable. We shall definitely overcome.

The first 2-3 years of Francis era was not that bad because I [like many other logical fans] wanted to give him time to settle in and adjust to the NBA. Little did I know that the little was too dumb to be trusted.

I will forever be thankful to Hockeyman and CD for many the Mac trade a reality - rooting for Mac is an orgastic experience.

We will make at least the second round in this season's playoffs.

P.S. EDC, where are you? Ready for the bet?

For me, it was right before the Glory Days, when Hakeem "faked" the injury. We missed the playoffs. It's easy to forget this now, but it looked like Hakeem was on his way down, not up. We fired our coach (Don Chaney) and had this hapless interim guy named Rudy Tomjonasomething.

That period was low, which made the subsequent seasons all the more stunning.

this year sucks but at least we know that, when we have a healthy team, we wouldn't be this bad. hell, moochie is playing 20 minutes a night. The Francis era was worse...a LOT worse.

THis team isnt bad at all. We haven't had our full team together at any point this season. Plus we have had the tough first month scedaule thanks to David Stern and his sour puss. Finally we just haven't shot the ball well at any point this season. I believe we will turn this year around though and when we get Anderson and Barry back we can make our run at the playoffs. Go Rockets!!!

This season has been somewhat frustrating, but like so many others have said, there's hope. What really frustrates and worries me is when Mac sounds so down about things, and having seen what I saw him go through in Orlando, perhaps it makes it a little worse for this season to be unfolding this way. I hope that he's wrong about only having 2-3 years left, but I have more confidence in him, than I have had in any player since Hakeem, he's just unbelievable. That being said, I do look forward to better times in the near future for this team.

Karla bear hugging Drexler leaving Stockton open for the 3 is still my worst moment as a Rockets fan.
