Nix is special in the GLeague and has some sort of hesitance when he's called up. We need to keep throwing him out there til he succeeds or loses his spot to TyTy.
There is a good quote from Alex Caruso on the g-league, and how guys that play in the g-league don't understand what role they are auditioning for. A lot of guys in the g-league put up gaudy stats, but they are playing like they are auditioning for a star level role on an NBA team as opposed to a garbage man or a glue guy role. There is a reason why Travelin Queen, who basically won every possible award in the g-league last season, is struggling to make the roster. Whereas Alex Caruso, who basically put up numbers half as good as Queen in the g-league, has secured himself a very steady position in the league. When you watch Nix play, he doesn't play like he is auditioning to be a role-player, but a star player role. I mean, this is a clip of every possession with Nix in the pre-season, the amount of times Nix quits on defense after a failed offensive possession is unacceptable. 0:34 and 2:14 is especially egregious, after turning the ball over in both possessions, he just walks/jogs back on defense, showing absolutely no intensity.
Nix will help the tank. If the goal is not higher draft picks then Nix needs to go. I can see a 20+ point lead disappear with 3 straight minutes of Nix / Garuba pick and roll.
This video is FANTASTIC….it was actually quite painful to watch after a while and pictures are are always better than words. Only thing missing was his 50% free throw shooting. THANK YOU for posting this!!!
