I tried out Myspace out for a week, was disgusted with its messy layout, and left. Facebook is much more easily organized (it's gotten worse than before, but oh well) and it's easier to see what people are doing.
I think this is compared to what MySpace was valued at during it's peak. For example: one educated guess
though I never really used Myspace, it seems to me that Myspace was better for meeting new people and facebook is more of a way to stay connected with people who you already know
i have never even been on face book..i tried goin on facebook once but i didnt feel like registering...so yea i've never even seen what facebooks front page looks like.. im on on myspace just about everyday because thats how i network with my music and make some of my sales. but yea...i am a broke ghetto mexican..so if u need i'll be on myspace.
"FACEBOOK FOUNDER PAINTED AS A POWER HUNGRY MEGALOMANIAC WITH MONEY AND SEX ON THE BRAIN" In fairness, that's written in the NY Post, published by Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch overpaid to buy Myspace, and is thus a competitor against Facebook. It's a common, sleazy tactic for Murdoch to go after his corporate rivals in the gossip pages of the newspapers he owns.
How does an online entity make that much money and still not turn a profit? When the hell is Myspace spending over $600 million on?
well, in fairness....i read the book and in it he is painted as a power hungry megalomaniac with sex on the brain.
I was wondering that too. You need some big-ass servers and a couple of tech guys to keep it going. Some accountants. Some folks to sell ad space. I'm not seeing $600 million in expenses, unless they are doing a lot of development or they are servicing a lot of debt.
Eventually as myspace dies down ppl will float to facebook since its the new popular site. Being that facebook has opened itself to anyone/everyone I feel it has already started. This is the same scenario that happens in the club scene. 1. New posh club opens up. 2. There is lots of buzz around it especially b/c its new, better, exclusive 3. PPl start migrating there (with this you get less classy clientele) 4. Eventually its no longer exclusive and it's all downhill from there
Facebook is on the downhill side now to me. Too many stupid new retreaded apps I have to hide every day. But I do like its ease of use better. I can actually find people by name, not some stupid mOnIKeRofCoOlNeSs. I had maybe 150 people find me, or be found on myspace... but its up to 403 already with fb in half the time.
I use to be on MySpace everyday from like 8th grade until 11th. Towards the end of 11th grade is when everyone started going to Facebook. Any by everyone, I mean the "good kids" at school. The fake gangstas and druggies were still on MySpace. Now, two months into my freshman year at college, and some of these MySpace people are on Facebook posting r****ded statuses, such as this: Like for real, what the hell are you saying?? Stop typing like that. You're in college.
Yeah I used to be on Myspace all the time, but now I check it maybe once a month? If even. What killed it was all the site phishing and the spyware/adware you can get from hacked friends sites. It was a shame because by the time they were able to control it, it was was already too late. Not only that, the more popular myspace got, the more ads were thrown into the mix. It just became more of a hassle. I loved myspace, it always gave me something to do. Not really trying to find people, but just having the customization options kept me busy a lot when I was bored. But its time has passed. I joined Facebook back when it was school exclusive and I liked it better. It was easy to use, and wasn't littered with account hackers and banner ads all over the place.
It's amazing to me how fast MySpace has fallen off. I NEVER get on anymore and I used to get on pretty consistently. Now it's all about Facebook and Twitter.
