why would anyone be upset, people were so hyped on bosh, but not on melo
i guess these fans dont realize that

melo > bosh any day. and by a huge margin. even if he is overrated.

plus, if we get melo, and yao :D

melo + rockets = a happy franchise. im just sayin

If shane is a 10 on defense, Melo has to be at least a 6

If Melo is a 10 on offense, Shane has to be at least a 3 (okay maybe a 4, since he can hit that corner shot)

Lets face it too, Shane's defense is only as good as the whole team (especially center position). He won't be able to cover up AB + KM holes.

We may as well go all out on Offense and pray Yao is going to anchor our D and pray our 2nd unit plays tight D to make up the slack of our starting Front court.

I'm sure Melo wants a ring. Out of the 3 teams mentioned. We obviously have the best chance for one. Having assets don't hurt either... ;)

    Morey's prospects/players > NY or NJ

Based on his history of scouting, and drafting solid pros, I think any team would be stupid to not take his players.

I find the analysis off because for a trade to go down, all three sides must win.

Denver: To them, they want to trade Melo but still compete. Maybe not as contenders, but definitely in the playoffs so they can actually still sell tickets. To me, a raw player like Favors hurt that. They'll want players who can come in and help them this year. As well as for the future.

NJ/HOU/NY: These teams want to get Melo, but also compete at the same time. If NY cleans out their entire cupboard of young players, they can definitely match/exceed the Rockets offer. But then what? Amare, Melo, and... scrubs? I like both Amare and Melo, but they are Wade and Lebron. NJ isn't going to trade Lopez, who makes like 1/10 of Melo's salary while on pace to become the 2nd best center in the game. The Rockets, on the other hand, can afford to part with several young players and still have depth to the 8th guy.

Melo: Anthony wants to compete. I believe he wants to go to NY or NJ, but not if they'll continue to suck with him. Yet both teams will have way less talent than what Denver offers. In fact, it's not even close once you consider that they'll have to give Denver some nice young players.

I believe that the Rockets chances of landing Melo depends hugely on just how much he loves to be in New York. I do believe that if location is not a factor, we do have the best chance.

But of course, Melo does love NY, so I think it's likely a moot point. I won't get my hopes up the way I did with Bosh.

    Melo+Rockets >>> Melo+Nets.

That's something Melo has to think about before signing the extension.

This could simply be a play by Denver to increase their trade leverage with the Nets. I don't think Carmelo is serious about Houston. I think he wants the glamor of playing in NY.

I agree, Melo has been stating he wants to play in NY ever since the whole thought of leaving the nuggets started.

First of all, while he would need his scoring, he would have a lot more help on the Rockets scoring EFFICIENTLY than he had on Denver. Denver has/had scorers, but they are all either not efficient or not that good off the ball. Houston has a lot of those players. He can actually spend some energy on defense and be okay at the end of the game.

Second of all, nearly any trade for Melo would likely include Brooks or Martin. If Brooks is traded, Lowry moves to starter and is an above average defender. If Martin is traded, Lee moves to starter and is apparently an above average defender.

Sure, taking Favors would be nice for the Nuggets, not a bad exchange, but do they want to continue to compete, or rebuild? And if they rebuild, what to do with Chauncey Billups, who has a couple decent years left in him and might chafe at T'ing up bricks for youngsters?

New York offered Gallinari and crap for Melo. Maybe Gallinari will be a star one day, but I don't see a future Nowitzki in him (while at the same time he won't be another Tskitishvili).

Whatever happens, NY and NJ would have to wait to make any sort of offer, at least for some of their players. NJ just signed Outlaw to a joke of a contract and he can't be included in a deal yet. Troy Murphy can't be included in a deal with another player for awhile, and his contract doesn't match Melo's in any case.

New York DOES have some interesting young players to pair with Curry's expirings, but some of those players were also recently acquired (etc etc). Which might help explain a less-than-tantalizing offer of Gallinari.

Denver has plenty of efficient scorers. Nene is highly efficient. Billups is highly efficent. JR Smith has been highly efficient for 3 out of the last 4 years (sucked last year, for some reason). Lawson as a rookie was highly efficient. The Nuggets had the 3rd best offense last season and was 7th best the year before. They are much more efficient offensively than the Rockets have been.

I think Yao and Melo share an agent. Since Bosh and Wade's agent want them to play together, Yao and Melo's agent may want them to play together as well.

Bosh had the chance to play with Dwyane Wade and Lebron James. Melo doesn't have that option. Houston offers him the best chance at winning a title.
