He is Daryl Morey not Bernard Madoff. He wasnt hired to make blockbuster deals one after another. The only thing he promised was to find undervalued bargains that others would overlook. So far he has pretty hood record of doing that with the verdict on Ariza still a few seasons away. Those who want some "get rich quick" schemes, well Morey isn't that guy so look somewhere else!

his reputation is no more on the line now than it is/was/continues to be every day that he is the GM of the Houston Rockets.

his reputation is always on the line because that's his job.

wait... wut??? Morey isn't constructing the biggest ponzi scheme to rip off Americans in history?

I actually agree that part of his success has been his personality and interaction with fans. I also agree that Morey gets a disproportionate amount of attention and praise around the league compared to most GMs. For example, he's drafted Landry etc but without a coach who could get the most out of them, they'd be less certain assets. I agree the entire organization pooched Tmac and he could be contributing to the team right now.

But he's been far from "slightly better than average." And the point is, as his data gets better, he should perform better. So he's been a very good GM, he could someday be great.

However, he's not a miracle worker.
