One can only hope! Iverson is what this struggling rockets team needs. He is like a Wafer replacement but better! And he will be quite a steal right now, with his market value down.
I think that he will have to come to terms with coming off of the bench then the lineup could be Brooks/Lowry McGrady/Iverson/Taylor Ariza/Battier/Budinger Scola/Landry Anderson/Hayes/Dorsey
Yes ur right! Let's get someone who actually is a ball stopper, who will stunt the growth of a budding talent in brooks, and who will create a crowded backcourt with brook/lowry and Tmac/ariza/budinger. Sounds good morey lets get it done.
Iverson is a team cancer and everyone knows it. Iverson is a bad influence on young players and everyone knows it. Iverson kills the offense, which would stunt the growth of our young players. Iverson wouldn't get us out of the first round, yet would hurt our salary cap and our draft position. Other than those problems, he'd be a terrific pick up!
At the risk of answering my own question, I was assuming that the deals that have gone would go down. That leaves a little bit of the Mid-level to maybe sign someone but probably not. What I had in mind by the date parameter was trades for players that are date specific either on our side or on their side. For instance I believe on our side that Landry has a specific date before which he cannot be traded (maybe without his approval). We are a bit stacked at the PF position so I think he may be a talent target for Morey to push while Battier might be a dollar target for Morey to push. i.e. We could trade Landry/Battier for a player that would help now and fit in with future plans. I am not pushing a specific trade, that was just an example.
All four of those problems are speculative and dead wrong. Pile on Iverson while you can. His passion for the game will quiet the critics, again... http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_tv/2009/07/21/nba_20090721_iverson.nba/index.html
September Twenty-fifth (or something unreasonable like that) is the anniversary of Landry signing the offer sheet with the Bobcats. You probably know this, but for those who don't, Landry can be traded to any team except Charlotte until that anniversary ONLY IF he okays the deal. After that date, he can be traded to any team.
Really? Everyone? Why don't we ask the members of that 2001 Sixers team that Iverson led to the finals? Hell, why don't we ask Deke? I doubt anyone would be a better judge of character than Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mhospital Ncongo Jean-Jacques Wamutombo.
To end all speculations, here is the most obvious move that Morey will make and when. The Move: Trade either for future draft picks or for a player with good potential for the future or for his expiring contract in 2010. Purpose: To open-up roster space or get a 2-for-1 deal with the Steve Francis trade exemption When: Before thr Steve Francis Trade Exemption expires. Thats the best time to wait for any major move to happen. Makes sense? Thanks!
The final roster will be effected the day McGrady is traded (February?), or failing that July 2010. Maybe the Rox get Spurred? Yao returns; Grady's contract turns golden. Top draft pick plays forever just like Duncan. Go pigs, fly on and on...
If we have to go back 8 years and 3 different teams to find a time that he wasn't a cancer, then I don't want the 2009 Iverson on our team. They ain't getting the 2001 Iverson, if they sign him.
if i was everybody i would not even think about and then boom something happens. in other words do not give it any thought and then something will happen when we least expect it.
