no, I never ignored that they are good. I'm just saying that the trade would give us an insignificant (at best) increase in our chances to contend for a championship.

in my opinion, of those 4 players, I'd rank pau 1 and nene 4.

Part of the fun in following the Rockets more than other team is to see Morey's moves materialize and perpetuate his reputation as a wizard. He got Lowery for Rafer Alston (and also took Cook's contract). Memphis got a 1st rd pick from Orlando, which Kyle was -- a 24th pick who got injured.

Last year he got Flynn for Miller and a swap of 1st round position. He got T-will for lottery protected 1st round. Thabeet, a #2 pick could still be a useful piece for Battier's contribution to Memphis' run. He's getting pieces that people don't want but at one point people were high on them. They're not bad pieces, they're just not the flavor of the day. Good coaching is putting players in a position where they can succeed. Let's hope McHale can do that.

This will be an unusual year with 66 games and lots of back-to-back games. This means that the usual 8-man rotation will be insufficient. The NBA is playing 10% more games (66 games) in a period where they usually play 60 games. So this would represent a 9 or 10-men rotation. Teams like Miami will be at a severe disadvantage, unless their big 3 can play night after night for 30 minutes. (Wonder how this will impact fantasy basketball).

Just like A-B was traded away to make way for Kyle (2-way player), Dragic looks to be a piece that can be traded away for Flynn (doubtful defender). A year ago no one asked for Kyle, this year all the trade rumors had Kyle, obviously the player with most value. I don't think Morey has failed, I think he's just getting started.
