Whether or not Morry is a demi-god, I do know that Sterm is a true god. And demi-gods just don't match up to real things.

He never was, he has been a good GM, some hits, some misses, but overall done a good job.

And he has been getting better, where before he undervalued height and valued college production, now he seems to get that getting both is better.

he got lowry and scola for rafer and spanoulis, 2 guys who weren't even in the league 2 years after the trade i believe. and he somehow got rid of ariza for lee and got a trade exception out of it. those seem like pretty good trades.

and only an unprecedented veto of a trade stopped him from a huge gasol trade + nene signing.

The team got a lot better after that trade, I think it was a win, and a move to a longer view plan.

If there is a weakness, it's holding on to guys too long, but that might be on Les. As with any discussion about Morey's job performance, we don't know how much Les is meddling.

It's either Mercury Morry or Morry Povich...both of whom, yes, are somewhat demigods I suppose. So I vote "yes" Morry is a demigod. Where are my poll choices so I can vote before someone changes my mind?

Morey did not lose Hayes. He intentionally let Hayes walk.

His plan worked. We traded assets for a Top 10 player and made room for Nene.

Then Stern got his fat ass in the way.

cracks me up that people honestly believe that gasol nene and lowry would be significantly better than the team we already are putting out there. That team would be mediocre at best, and I'd venture to say worse than our current team.

morey is a vastly overrated gm. He'd be better suited as a baseball gm. He's out of his league in basketball.

nene has career numbers of 12 and 7. What exactly has happened in the offseason that made everybody here think he's suddenly a superstar? Morey made people think that he's better than everybody thinks he is?? Nene is a decent role player. Period. His contract would have been a bigger albatross than kelvin cato's.

Thats the debate about the stats Money ball GMs. I would contend it works in baseball more because stats there translate onto the field production. Where as basketball some stats could be totally misleading about one players ability.

How was that a bad deal? We would lose Battier this season no matter what and
we turned the pick from Memphis into Donatas Motiejunas. Moreover, CBud was given the starting job after the trade and he performed well.

it doesn't work in basketball. He's proven that, now time for him to move on. Putting a basketball team together isn't rocket science. The roster is comprised of only 12-15 players, of which only about 8 matter, and of which only 1 or 2 really matter. You need superstars to win and contend for championships in the nba. Morey, through all his ingenious "stockpiling of assets", has been able to get zero here throughout his tenure. In other words, his methods have failed, and, in retrospect (for those who haven't realized it as its been happening), he has been an undeniably unsuccessful GM.

and please don't reply with "he tried to get gasol". Stockpiling assets for 4 years to turn into a 32 year old, declining pau gasol is laughable, and would not have moved us an inch closer to contending.

LOL at using career stats as something meaningful for a player who came from Brazil.

Nene was very good last year, one of the most efficient offensive players (#1 fg%, #4 ts%) and a very good pick-and-roll defender. And he has legit size too. There just aren't many guys like that, which is why he got MULTIPLE big offers, not just from Maurry.

He's 29 and his best years are probably ahead of him. He was the best player for Denver (post-Melo) which was a very good team even after the trade.

But who cares, it's over and we are stuck with the same issue we've had since Yao- no size.

Therre is so much wrong here it's hard to know where to begin.

Moneyball doesn't say you don't need superstars, in fact Morey has said repeatedly you need superstars to win.

Stockpiling assets hasn't failed, in fact it would have worked if not for the Stern veto.

Gasol is 31 and not declining. Pairing him with Nene would have made us a top 4 seed.
