It does, we are over the cap. We still have our full MLE though, assuming Papanikolaou will sign for BAE.

I think I get it now.... So we gained a TPE for Asik and Lin, which kept us over the cap and allowed us to keep our MLE and BAE? So we can't put a bid in on Boozer because we are not under the cap.

because MLE is reserved for teams over the cap. we are over teh cap and thus have the MLE.

to say that we have to stay UNDER the cap to hold on to the MLE couldn't be further from correct

    correct !!

also MLE and BAE count against cap...

if you add MLE/BAE..player salaries and all trade exceptions and are still UNDER the cap..then you lose your exceptions.

Gotcha. That's what i thought, but then I end up seeing conflicting reports which makes me second guess what I thought I knew.

    Dwight Howard $21,436,271
    James Harden $14,728,884
    Trevor Ariza $8,600,000
    Jeremy Lin TPE $8,500,000
    Alonzo Gee $3,000,000
    Terrence Jones $1,618,680
    Donatas Motiejunas $1,483,920
    Scotty Hopson $1,450,878
    Josh Powell $1,310,286
    Troy Daniels Cap Hold $1,016,482
    Patrick Beverley $915,243
    Isaiah Canaan $816,482
    Robert Covington $816,482

    Total = $65,693,568

That was our roster before signing Dorsey, Adrian, Capela, Johnson, Papanikolaou and re-signing Daniels. We have always been over the cap, therefor preserving our MLE, BAE and TPE.

I think it's blind bidding; highest initial offer wins Boozer

This is false because we are operating above the cap. We could go under if we wanted to but it doesn't make sense to do that.

We have cap room, but are operating over the cap (by retaining the Lin TPE) in order to make use of the MLE and BAE

IIRC players picked via amnesty are not tradable for the for a year.
