John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones,Graham Chapman,Eric Idle,Michael Palin. That's a stacked lineup man. The Brits beat us in this category for sure.

I find Monty Python unwatchable. I'm not into broad humor

    Always loved these guys...

    UCB was good.

Hard to vote against Monty Python, though.

No one will agree on this topic. Humor is very subjective.

For my money the GOAT comedy is Dumb and Dumber.

Terry Gilliam alone is crazy. After Python this dude did:

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
    Twelve Monkeys
    Time Bandits
Monty Python and The Holy Grail
    The Fisher King
    Brazil

The 2nd season of SNL - Chase/Murray, Belushi, Aykroyd, Curtin, Morris, Radner, Newman - is the only other acceptable answer. Kids in the Hall are 3rd.

This is what I was going to say.

Dark-horse candidate(s) - Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and the rest of their "Mockumentary" crew (Spinal Tap, Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, A Mighty Wind)

Yeah, sooooo hard to top that SNL cast. For
My money they were the best.

if we are going SNL, I also love Hartman, Sandler, Farley, Rock, Spade, Myers, Carvey, Nealon, Meadows. Pretty ridiculous.

They're admired by the Pythons and ... Jackie Kennedy. JFK attended their Broadway show in 1963.
Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Alan Bennett, and Jonathan Miller are BEYOND THE FRINGE.

Here's their complete recorded show from 1962.

Also love me some Monty Python!
