Mobes has only shot 64 free throws in 22 games. With the amount that he penetrates, he is not getting calls. That is why he was recently fined. No calls on penetration = reduced field goal percentage. If you would look, you would see that he is first on the team in 3pt% and FT%(unless you count Langhi's 2-2). If he got just the legitimate foul calls, not even the extra calls guys like Kobe get, his FG% would probably be quite a bit higher than his 3pt%, instead of slightly lower. As for this being his chance to prove that he could be just like AI in the same situation, you have got to be kidding. Unless I missed a big sportscenter the '6ers have not lost every other starter and some of the back-ups. But speaking of AI, he gets 1.05 pts per shot attempt, Mobley gets 1.08 and shoots far fewer FTs as mentioned above, so I guess he probably could do about the same thing.

    Hydra,

He hardly EVER goes to the hole anymore. He settles for the step back jumper, THAT is why he is not getting any foul shots.

Also, the zone defense has stopped a lot of penetrating to the rack.

If he would drive more often, it would certainly help.

Even so, strictly by the numbers he is more efficient offensively than Iverson, thus the assertion tha Mobes could do the same thing in the same situation, especially with the supporting cast that "the Answer" has.

Supporting cast? W/O the Answer Phily can hardly get a win. I am not sure Kobe, McGrady or Vince could do as well as Iverson with that team, let alone Mobley.

So Hydra, are you saying that you would not trade Mobley for Iverson for it would be to slanted in favor of Philly because according to the numbers, Mobley is better than Iverson?

Cause according to your post, that's what it looks like.

With the exception of contract comparison, Finley, statistically, is better than Mobley and I would take him in a heartbeat in a straight-up trade. He is only 18 months older than Mobley, so age is not that much of a factor. Careerwise, Finley shoots better overall and they are virtually tied in 3 pt. pct. Mobley shoots FTs at a higher percentage. Finely averages 5 rebounds and 4 assists to Mobley's 4 rebounds 2.5 assists. In addition, I don't think Finely has ever missed a game.

Damn skippy. I'll probably get blasted for this but I think AI is the second most overrated player in the Association, behind Kobe "I'm better than Shaq" Bryant. Put any of the other SGs from all of these top 10 lists in his place and they will do the same thing. A 6' nothing guy that shoots 40% and gets alot of steals because Mt. Mutombo is backing him up shouldn't be that tough to replace. I see Cat as a taller Iverson, he just is not in the same situation.

Mobley is OVERRATED!!! His only quality is that he is Steve's friend. I am sorry, but I am not impressed with a guy scoring 20 points a night taking 30 shots. That is Mobley's game in a nutshell.

I am not impressed by people making up bogus statistics, since Mobley scores more than one point per shot attempt. Mayhap "TheGreatest" has been overrated by himself.

1.08 pts / shot is not very good. That's right around Willis, Rice, Moochie, and Walt Williams. The better shooting guards tend to be closer to the 1.20-1.30 range (Francis is at 1.3).

Yes, it's similar to Iverson this year. Iverson, thus far, is having his worse season as a professional, so I'm not sure that says much.

Sadly, Mobley could be MUCH better if he'd just stop taking idiotic shots.

Screw it trade him, I am sick of watching his style of ball, he is selfish and does not know what it takes to play WINNING basketball.

Maybe I am just pissed, but what year is he like 5th ? He should know by now.
