Romney will not be president. Republicans are already looking to get slaughtered in November. Romney can't inspire anyone. That's a fatal flaw for a leader. His own party can't get excited by him. All his money is coming in from Super PAC and anti-Obama folks. Grassroots efforts are dead. The economy is clearly on the mend and in fact gaining steam. Americans aren't stupid. They aren't going to switch away from Obama just as the good times are starting to look like they are going to roll again. Add in the fact that Obama is generally likable - it's over. It's quite a turnaround in fact. I think this election is very much a rerun of 2004.
I've been calling Romney the GOP Kerry for months. I had a lengthy discussion with a Republican friend of mine about this a few weeks ago. You have a weak incumbent that's ready to be beaten but the opposition party nominates a sorry candidate that can't win. One difference becoming clear now is that Obama won't necessarily be weak if the economy and unemployment continue to improve. Another difference is Romney won't sit still and dither like a wimp (as Kerry did) when attacked. If Obama beats Romney, he will know he's been in a fight.
Ya Romney will get crushed in the election if he is the candidate. Anyways time to plan for 2016 Spoiler
Romney is pretty similar to Kerry in mannerisms, rich guy sort of thing. This is good for Obama as Romney even makes Obama look like a working class beer drinking good old boy to the extent that is possible. The difference between Romney and Kerry is, which is hard for conservatives and libertarians especially to understand, is that though rich, Kerry is not selfish and gives a damn about people less wealthy. Romney not so much. Now Obama does have a bit of the rich guy thing, since he has mainly hung out with the rich and elite since he started a very fancy prep high school in Hawaii. Like, Kerry, Obama does care about those less off, but is even more careful and cautious in advocating for them.
Maybe, maybe no. He just backed out of the big debate on March 1st before the Super Tuesday primaries.
