jackie, you have some good points...i would love to get brand...ive said all along, he would be the perfect pf to go alond side yao...i also love jaric, he would be a great guy off the bench...my only issue is depth... i would not do this trade, because of the fact that we are not getting the one thing that i think we need the most with yao, post presencs and passing ability: consistent outside shooters... i have always been a fan of eddie jones' defense, but i wouldnt touch him with a 10 foot pole because of his injury issues over the past couple of years, which have been similar to that of rice... with this trade, we would be a jones injury away from having nothing in the starting sg spot...id rather keep mobley...i love posey's hustle and defense, but he will never be a shooting guard...he is a servicable small fw that would be great off the bench, if and when nachbar comes into starters form. TRADE REJECTED
How about Jaric? We could also always try to sign some veteran backup guy for little money as insurance, like, let's say, Piatkowski or Voshon Lenard. Also, Jaric could play the point and Francis the SG.
Hey Hottodie, do you live in Miami? You like to propose trades with Miami a lot. I think both trades would be great!!!! Francis/Moochie Houston/Butler/Nachbar Posey/Butler/Nachbar Thomas/Taylor Yao/Thomas/Knight Houston can be just as good as Mobley. Thomas is better than Griffin at this time. We get a good, young guy in RASUAL BUTLER. I'd rather have Caron Butler......but Rasual would be fantabulous as well! And you have a lot of supporting evidence on why the teams would do it!!
The second trade scenario looks interesting, but my imagination is strained by the first. Eddie Jones WAS a great defensive player who ONCE COULD shoot the three... The Dream once WAS the best center in basketball, etc. etc. Why would we give up a first rounder just to get rid of Moochie?
whoa, I like both trades. Kurt Thomas would do wonders for this team; he would especially bring some consistency and defense down low which would give Yao Ming a little more elbow room. Kurt reminds me of Brian Grant pre-injury. And the other intriguing part of this trade is the 9th pick the Rockets would get. The Rockets should be able to nab Kirk Heinrich with that pick. Kick ass trade man, we do this trade, and I feel a pure Rocket Stoke coming on.
Nah, I'm from Houston. It's just that, it seems Miami's pick can be had & I'm just throwing out ideas.
Seems the Knicks are really after T.J. Ford. GMs and scouts have been talking him down but that's some major B.S. He'll be drafted high and that's the truth. Now I read something about Toronto and the Knicks in talks. The article mentions Toronto possibly being interested in Sprewell, and how that wouldn't make sense; but isn't it true that the Raptors seriously pursued Cuttino two years ago? Toronto and the Knicks have been trading partners before. They might get in on a 3-way with us (if we can get that #9 pick, maybe Hinrich to play PG/SG along with Steve). The Raptors have Hakeem's expiring contract and Antonio Davis and the #4 pick. They also want to unload some long-term contracts. The Knicks need a center and a PG. (God, please, get Moochie's contract OUT OF HERE.)
Now, can Hottoddie structure a realistic three-way deal among Houston, New York and Toronto where each team benefits and where the Rocks come off with New York's #9 or Toronto's #4 without losing any of our future #1 picks?
I was trying, and it can be done, depending on who wants what kind of players. Me, I'd take Kurt Thomas (Dallas native: mean, nasty bast**d) and Othella my Fella (still lives in Houston) and Sprewell (has at least 2 decent years left) and the #9 (preferably Hinrich, if he's still on the board; a good young combo guard to groom). Cat paired with ole buddy Alvin might go over OK in Toronto, if the Raptors want to move Vince back to the 3. I wouldn't mind giving up EG and Cato or Mo-T, if we somehow get back a "decent" low-paid center. Isn't Doleac available? NY could wind up with good center/forwards like A-Davis and Junkyard Dog. And #4 T.J. ford. I don't know exactly why Toronto and NY are rumored to be talking to each other, as both teams want to crawl back into the EC playoff picture; but if they are in talks, I think we might be in on it, just from persistent rumors that JVG has asked about NY players (please don't get A. Houston, please don't get A. Houston, think happy thoughts, find a happy place...)
